In this article I will go over how to get good miniature 3D print files. I’ll explain what to avoid, what to look for, and the best places to buy miniature 3D printing files for your needs and applications.

So there are several ways to get miniature 3D print files. The files are free, available for purchase on your request, as part of the subscription model or bulk Kickstarter offering.
Each method of obtaining miniature 3D printing files has different advantages and disadvantages. What works best for you depends on your usage. If you’re not sure what to print, check out these 3D printer project ideas.
So what you’re looking for are STL files that you can print on your printer (preferably a high-quality resin printer). Now that you know what else to do, the Beginner’s Guide to 3D Printing Miniatures will help you a lot.
If you want to make it as easy as possible, you should get the little 3D print files that are already included in the “props” file. The supports ensure that the printing process runs smoothly and nothing breaks. If the support is not provided for you, you will have to make it yourself. Not only is this time-consuming, but if something goes wrong during printing, you may end up breaking the props (resulting in more things going wrong and more testing to determine the problem). I just hate support, so I almost never buy files that aren’t pre-supported.

Patreon is my favorite way to get thumbnail files. I just love the constant flow of miniatures each month and it forces me to paint designs that I would never have gotten around to. Below are some of my current favorite Patreons. This is not an exhaustive list (just search Patreon yourself).
All of the Patreons listed below do it the same way: every month you become a member, you get access to a new set of 3D print files on a specific theme. If you want something from the old month, most of them are sold through Myminifactory (usually with a Patreon discount). Most Patreons come with a mini welcome pack inside. Titan Forge Miniatures is my favorite Patreon for all my miniature 3D needs. I recently looked through my file collection and saw that I own all the files they created (Patreon and Kickstarter).
To me, these are the perfect combination of miniatures. I really like his sculpting style. Some say they’re a little gross or boring, but I think I love them!
White Dragon 3d Printed Miniature For Tabletop Rpgsdungeon
Each month they have a theme and the miniatures are created with that theme in mind. You’ll get terrain and miniatures for this theme, as well as a few characters to use in Dungeons and Dragons. I use them to craft warbands for wargaming, DnD miniatures, and even to add units to my Warhammer army.
For me, it’s a good mix of large miniatures, small miniatures, monsters, and humanoids. They don’t do drops, so if it’s a must-do, it’s probably best to look elsewhere.
The Artisan Guild makes very high quality miniatures and Patreon is very popular. For me, I only go if there is something I really like. Each month has the same mods with different weapons and equipment, so there is little difference in the mods you receive.
Each release they follow a specific pattern with 6 modular models, 4 special models (mostly cavalry), 2 heroes, 1 boss or heroic item, and some terrain.

Archvillain Games is another popular monthly Patreon. These are darker and darker and focus more on the monsters. If that’s your jam, I highly recommend it. They’re perfect for the dungeon master who wants to spice up their collection with some badass minis!
This includes a welcome mini pack as usual. And as you can see from the pictures, they make 3D files look great!
Punga Miniatures makes miniature 3D printing files for use in “Fantasy Football” (read: another Blood Bowl team). I really like some of the miniatures, others are a little weak. Hits and misses are more common, so it’s an order I switch on and off depending on the team going out. Often, they split their released teams into different sections. You may need to trade in two to three months to get everything on the team (but there are a lot of discounts on the team you get).
If you’re interested in Blood Bowl, this is a great way to get a good non-Games Workshop model or Big Guy model.

There are many platforms where different creators can sell their files or give them away for free. Here’s what you need to know if you’re interested in miniature printing.
Myminifactory is my favorite platform for buying individual miniatures. The creators have set up a store where you can all shop and log in through one website. Most of the big Patreons sell their miniatures there (if you’re a Patreon, you can get huge discounts on your previous releases). A common theme here is high quality purchased miniatures. Compared to other platforms, Myminfactory is really on the miniature side (so not the weird 3D printing stuff).
It’s a great place to meet new creators because you can more easily see all the miniatures they’ve made. It is also regularly sold in various stores.
One of the cool things is that your purchases are associated with your user, so you can find what files you’re looking for (or browse your own collection once you receive a huge list. From this). files). Some Patreons also link to monthly subscriptions so you can view the thumbnails on Myminifactor (a blessing if you forget to download them before the end of the month).

You can also join a tribe of specific stores. For the most part, it works the same as joining Patreon. I’m used to using Patreon for other things, so I haven’t tried the tribal method.
If you buy multiple items through Myminifactory, they also have a subscription app. I find it strange that it only allows you to buy 3D printed items for cheap.
They also have an app, but it seems worse than just using the browser (eg you can’t buy things from the app).
Thingiverse is one of those sites: you either hate it or you love it, and most people will mention it when they talk about 3D printing. The good thing is that everything is free there. But there’s a lot going on here, and most of them aren’t aimed at making good-looking miniatures. But you can find some gems out there, especially if you have a plastic printer. I wouldn’t advise you to start with it, but once you get the hang of it (and can provide manual support), you can get some great stuff here for free.
