Tri Star couldn’t pay people to see this incredible movie and tragedy. Not a movie! But the people did not see the tragedy. A glorious return to form by one of our most distinguished directors, Robert Zemeckis, who co-wrote the stunning film with Christopher Brown, a beautiful, daring recreation of Philippe Petit’s tightrope walk between the newly opened towers of the World Trade Center was rich: a. capers, film adventures, a wonderful recreation of New York in 1974, and love letters to buildings on 9/11 and we’ve lost film spotting in general. I saw it three times, and three times I cried with joy, especially in the last moments and images. Designed for the biggest screen possible, I can only hope that it works well at home and that people open it. This movie fills me with joy.
The Lone Ranger
Wow. A brutal, gripping film by director Denis Villeneuve and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan that had me on my chest from the moment it began until its devastating conclusion. No director working today… I mean no director working today… can create and sustain tension like Villeneuve. I don’t know how to do it. Sicario is not only a great gardener, but a very complex and harrowing look at the drug trade, the border, the law and the human condition. It has to be seen.
I love big action as much as anyone. Unfortunately, most of the action movies that hit the scene are marginal at best. Fortunately, the MI series always remains firm. I was sure someone could match Brad Bird’s phenomenal MI:4, but damned if writer/director Christopher McQuarrie didn’t rise to the occasion. Extremely intelligent and timely, as he arranged incredible roles, this chapter was further elevated by Rebecca Ferguson’s stellar performance as a woman whose movements are consistently difficult to discern. I love watching Tom Cruise, he is as strong and tenacious as ever in this movie. And while Cruise was equally stunning with Emily Blunt on the Edge of Tomorrow (now Live Die Repeat), he subtly gifted the film to his co-star Ferguson. If you miss her, look. You will have an incredible time.
The phrase “making them ain’t what they used to be” seems to be the case with this beautifully crafted, beautifully crafted period piece about an Irish woman who immigrates to America in the 50s. Perfect performances and direction make this one of the best films of the year, and something else… however “primitive” the film may seem at first glance, it has a strong modern resonance in its depiction of immigrant life. and our country’s remarkable history as a nation of immigrants. Without trying to be political, this immigrant life is very political in today’s climate. If that’s a deterrent, ignore the modern ramifications and look at the gorgeous images of 50s Brooklyn and the romance at the heart of the film.
This is very unacceptable. I didn’t want to see it, I even swore I didn’t want to. The Three Abominations prequel to Crazy in That Town in Northern California killed my love for the series. Even the original three are hard for me to watch, especially since the crazy lost those stupid changes too.

I love my JJ though. I’ve been a fan for a long time. Happiness remains one of my favorite TV shows, funny, romantic, clever and full of wonderful longing. I can’t wait to mention you lost because I can go down the rabbit hole of loving that is my TV show all the time. His “Mission Impossible” kicked ass. And he’s excited about both Star Trek features. That said, I’m pretty pissed about the Force Awakens. I never watch mass, I hate watching something before I see the movie… so I watch the trailer thinking not to go. When I saw Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford hugging, they played the damn trailer for me. so I left. He had cloudy eyes at least 4 times.
It’s hard to say if this movie is really great or if it’s just brilliant at overwhelming our nostalgia for the originals. Probably a lot of both. Abrams and company are to be commended, if nothing else, for reviving the series from the wreckage of the show’s last three straws. But to him much more. The force wakes up a lot, it flatters, the customer is very understanding and just has a great time. I beg to confess that I am returning.
