This is the post you have all been waiting for. I ended up gathering, verifying, and referencing enough sources to ensure that the first three Avatar Studios movies were posted, in what order and (with a grain of salt, okay?) when they arrived. .
The New Avatar: The Last Airbender Animated Film Will Feature A Young Adult Version Of The Cast
You may be aware that news from Avatar Studios has reached Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2022 over the past few days – they revealed that three films are currently actively in development, confirming my directorial debut report. The film and its first teaser were shown to the journalists present.
Let’s tackle that teaser first. After checking with a few sources present, we’re pretty sure what was shown was General Fong’s castle, which Aang and Gaang first visited in Avatar: The Last Airbender Book II: Earth, Chapter One: Avatar State.
It was exactly this clip/screencap from the original or something very similar. The video was followed by text with the theme “Avatar Returns” (a very popular tagline these days) and a bent earth icon. Which leads to…
The first animated film to come from Avatar Studios is the prequel I’ve reported on before, and it’s a “prequel” because it stars the last Avatar of the universe before Aang and Kora: Avatar Kiyoshi.
Avatar The Last Airbender’s New Series And Movies Are Years Away
Then, I can confirm that the second movie is the one I exclusively revealed last month: a story focusing on Fire Lord Zuko.
Finally, and this is a brand new reveal, the third film in the Avatar Korra era takes place after the end of the animated series.
I should note that these are all very advanced reports, for example I don’t know the exact focus of a Korra era movie, though I’d personally be willing to bet it would be Korra herself. But in the end, I guess I have to disclaim that Idon doesn’t know that level of detail, except in the specific case of the Zuko movie about Zuko himself. Technically, I don’t know that Kiyoshi’s movie will “star” him, but I really can’t imagine him not doing it, you know?
As the dates did. I debated whether or not to add them, but decided to spice things up and go for it this time. I want to make it clear that these are not my estimates, they are cross-references of legitimate information from at least two sources, but……basic information is indeed subject to change and is not intended to be a commitment in any way. I understand from everyone that no one will remember this post until we get to these years. So, with that said, you can expect the Avatar movies to hit theaters once a year starting in 2024, and the first three movies are:

Here’s the next part of my estimate: I personally expect LATE2024 for the first one. Again, too early on the rest: again, a grain of salt. As production continues, they may decide they want to do it every two years, or any number of things that could lead to schedule changes.
It’s really important to understand that this is just a glimpse of Avatar Studio’s current plans – they’re not announced, not confirmed. I’m not announcing or confirming anything anytime soon either, and there’s a good reason they haven’t — they haven’t even announced their first film yet, much less committed to a slate. So please keep all this in mind. Don’t expect them to reveal anything about any Korra movies anytime soon – there are two previous movies that probably won’t even reveal anything anytime soon. That said, this information is legal and not just speculation, and may not change. I think it’s very likely that the release date will change honestly, but it’s unlikely that the top three concepts of Kyoshi / Zuko / Kora will stay the same. Assuming, of course, that my sources are correct about them in the first place. 🙂

The first new animated film Avatar: The Last Airbender will focus on the main group – but as adults. The main panel at Cinema Con revealed that Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Toph are all in their late 20s and early 30s. When the movie opens on October 10, 2025, the characters will be the same age as many of the people who grew up watching them. Man, time flies!
