Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated fantasy television series set in a fictional world where both magic and politics are divided by the four elements: Water, Air, Earth and Fire. Four distinct ethno-political groups emerged: the two water tribes (one at each pole), the air nomads (who live in and around four great mountainous air temples), the vast Earth Kingdom, and the Fire Nation. technologically advanced.

All rumors of a live-action Avatar movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan in 2009 are wishful thinking and should not be pursued.

The Promise (2012): This and subsequent comics form a direct sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender, starting immediately after the events of the television series.
Avatar: The Last Airbender – Team Avatar Tales (2020): Another collection of one-off, short-lived comics previously published between 2013 and 2015.
For centuries, the four nations lived together in peace, harmony and balance. The balance was tipped nearly a century ago by Fire Lord Sozin, who used the appearance of a comet that could strengthen firebending power to wage war against the other nations. The Fire Nation captured part of the Earthrealm, using it as a base to launch new attacks and incursions on the main continent, and also eliminated the Air Nomads as part of an attempt to kill the Avatar when he was just a child, ending the usual line. The Avatar, a 12-year-old boy named Aang, disappeared and it was presumed that the Fire Nation had succeeded. However, the Fire Lords knew they had failed and in the years to come sent many agents and assassins to look for the Avatar.
No new Avatars appeared in the meantime and the world lost hope. The Fire Nation spent three generations at war with the rest of the world, conquering and colonizing large areas of the Earth Kingdom and also drawing the Water Tribes into the war. The war stalled under Fire Lord Azulon, who seemed content with a long stalemate, but Azulon’s brutal and more dynamic successor, Ozai, pursued the war with much more vigor since he became Fire Lord.
Why Avatar Had To Add The Last Airbender To Its Title
The series begins when two young members of the Southern Water Tribe, waterbender Katara and her brother Sokka, find Avatar Aang frozen in an iceberg. They unfreeze him and he realizes that he needs to save the world. Things come to a head when it is revealed that Sozin’s Comet will return in just under a year, and on the day it makes its closest pass to Earth, Fire Lord Ozai will use his power to destroy the last resistance to his rule. . The Avatar, who normally spends years mastering each element at a time, has only months to master water, earth, and fire before facing his fate.
The original animated series tells the story of Aang and his quest to defeat the Fire Lord. The story is divided into three seasons or “books”.
In Book I: Water, Aang learns waterbending from Katara, but she is still a novice, and they decide to travel across the hemisphere to the largest and most powerful Northern Water Tribe to find a teacher. They board Aang’s flying bison, Appa, who has been frozen with him in ice. They are accompanied on their journey by Sokka, Katara’s adamant brother, and a flying monkey lemur named Momo. They are relentlessly pursued by Prince Zuko, son of the Fire Lord whom he banished for cowardice, who seeks to regain his honor by capturing the Avatar. Zuko is advised by his wise and tea-loving uncle Iroh, but he rarely follows the advice he receives.
In Book II: The Earth, Aang searches for a doctrine of earthbending and finds one in Toph, a blind young woman whose visual impairment seems to have heightened her ability to sense the earth. As Aang learns about earthbending, he is struck by personal tragedy when his oldest friend, Appa, is kidnapped. The gang travels to the Earthrealm capital, Ba Sing Se, with a daring plan to defeat the Fire Lord during a solar eclipse, but run into trouble at the top of Earthrealm power. Meanwhile, Zuko and Iroh are forced to become desperate fugitives after betraying the Firelord, and Zuko’s sister Azula, a master lightningbender, is sent to apprehend him and destroy the Avatar.

In Book III: Fire, Aang and the gang travel to the Fire Nation. As his allies prepare to invade the Fire Nation capital, Aang and the team go undercover and discover how the Fire Lord has abused his own people. The friends and allies Aang has recruited over the years gather for the final battle, and Zuko is forced to choose his allegiances one last time.
The sequel to the series tells the story of Aang’s successor as the Avatar, Korra of the Southern Water Tribe. Unlike Avatar, which tells a story over three seasons, Korra depicts four separate battles that take place in sequence.
In Book I: Air, the new Avatar, Korra, has mastered waterbending, earthbending, and firebending, but is unable to master airbending, as almost all of the world’s airbending machines were eliminated during the Hundred Years’ War. Frustrated, she flees to Republic City and enlists the help of Master Tenzin, Aang’s son, to learn airbending. Republic City is then thrown into chaos by Amon, the leader of the “Equalist” movement, who plans the destruction of all benders and has been given the power to remove a bender’s powers.
In Book II: Spirits, Korra has to intervene in a growing dispute between the two Water Tribes, with the northern tribe (by far the more numerous and powerful) threatening to “unite” the two by force. A series of events sees a permanent shift in the connection between the material and spiritual worlds.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Comics Reading Order
In Book III: Change, the world is recovering from an event that saw the Spirit World merge with the Material. This included the forced return of airbending to the world en masse, with the skill manifesting in the tens of thousands. A criminal, Zaheer, becomes an air raider and plans to use his newfound power to conquer the world.
In Book IV: Balance, Korra’s powers are put to the test when civil war erupts in the Earthrealm. A brutal new “Earth Empire” rises in a populist wave to replace the Kingdom and plans to conquer Republic City.
