Can Uber Take You To Another State – Millions of people around the world run them. They run for different reasons and come from different walks of life: entrepreneurs, parents, immigrants, students. Some run together to earn a living, while others struggle to support their families, their own ambitions, or both.
Drivers have also told us that they are proud of what they do and the service they provide, knowing that in many ways riders and their families depend on them. But we also hear that they want to be recognized for their commitment to quality service and to help them build their future.

The mission is to illuminate opportunities by moving the world. For drivers, that means we always try to give them more opportunities to progress. Our commitment began with 180 Days of Change, and continues today with Pro, a program piloting in 8 US cities* that rewards the participation of our most committed driver partners on and off the road.

With Pro, drivers can unlock rewards like greater earnings and savings that help them make the most of their time on the road. For example, drivers can get up to 25% standard discount for car maintenance at 20,000 stores nationwide and up to 5% cash back at any gas station with Visa Debit Card. Drivers can also enjoy perks like faster airport pickups and free dental repairs. Riders can also see the driver’s professional status in the app when requesting a ride.
Drivers also tell us their ambitions to widen the road, as they often drive with great purpose. That’s why we’re partnering with Arizona State University (ASU) to offer qualified drivers or their families the opportunity to complete a degree or non-degree certificate course through ASU Online, with tuition fully covered. ASU Online has been ranked as one of the top online degrees in the United States and #1 in innovation by US News for the past four years.
Eligible drivers can choose from 80+ undergraduate degrees, eight different English language courses to suit their skill level, or earn an entrepreneurship certificate. Tuition is 100% covered. Classes start at 4 o’clock each and can be completed online at any time, so that education can fit into their lives and not the other way around.
All eligible drivers have the option to transfer tuition coverage to a spouse, domestic partner, child, sibling, parent, legal guardian or dependent. Tuition fees are paid in full.
How Far Can Uber Take You? Here’s What You Need To Know
Pro is designed to recognize drivers’ commitment and high quality service. To unlock rewards, drivers must have a minimum star rating of 4.85 and a low cancellation rate. Drivers earn points per trip in a fixed 3-month period, and points earned in one period count towards unlocking status (and more rewards) in the next period.
Eligible drivers can learn about Pro, view available rewards, and track progress toward their goals directly in the rewards section of the redesigned Driver App. While the beta version is running in 8 US cities to begin with, we plan to refine and improve Pro and drivers, with the goal of rolling out to more people in the coming months.
Whether it’s higher incomes, discounts that help drivers make the most of their time on the road, or fully funded higher education that helps them and their families thrive, we’re committed to our most committed partners. Let’s help them progress towards their goals. On the road and off. Uber is a great way to get a ride anywhere. Since 2010, rideshare has offered an on-demand service that allows users to order rides from their smartphones. The brand has become ingrained in the lexicon that “Uber” is used as a verb, and thousands of riders “Ubering” every night. But is there a distance limit to how far Uber will take you?
According to Uber, there is no distance limit for Uber rides. However, there is a time limit of eight hours on the journey. That means if you drive on the freeway with little traffic, you can cover about 500 miles in an eight-hour period. If you need to go further than that, you have to order a new ride every time you reach that limit.
Uber Launches Scheduled Rides, So You Can (finally) Book A Car In Advance
The cost depends on the level of machine you order. For example, Uber X, Uber Comfort and Uber Select are more expensive, but offer more amenities such as extra legroom and leather seats. Consider tipping your Uber driver for the effort and time they put into the trip, even if tipping is not required.
Uber recommends calling your driver ahead of time to make sure they’re OK with the long trip. The driver has the right to refuse the trip and is under no obligation to drive with you if he does not want to. If you’re planning a long trip with Uber, remember that it’s at the driver’s discretion. This is especially true if the trip crosses state lines as some drivers are unwilling to do so.
There are some famous long-term Uber rides. In 2017, an Uber driver pulled up at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport expecting a routine trip to suburban Buffalo Grove, CNN reports. It turned out that the passengers were going to Buffalo, New York, a 500-mile, eight-hour drive. That’s because the rider was NFL player Sharice Wright of the Buffalo Bills on his way to offseason training.
The ride cost him $632.08, and he added a $300 tip to the driver, Hadi Abdullahian. The reward for Abdullahian got even better because when the NFL reimbursed Wright for the trip, he also gave the driver $932.
How Do I File A Lawsuit Against Uber Or Lyft?
Another Uber ride involved popular YouTuber, MrBeast. In 2017, he rode an Uber from North Carolina to California. At 2,256 miles, it’s the longest Uber ride in history. However, because of the eight-hour limit, you can no longer Uber across the country in one trip.
Uber isn’t the only ride-sharing option for long-distance travelers. In addition to considering the company’s main competitor, Lyft, you can also check out some smaller apps. If you’re in California, try Curb, which plans to expand to 45 US cities. There is also Via, which loads multiple passengers in one vehicle.
If you like to drive yourself but don’t have a car, check out car sharing services. Zipcar includes insurance and allows members to pick up vehicles by the day or by the hour. There’s no distance limit, but Zipcar charges extra if you travel more than 180 miles in a day. There’s also Getaround, which connects cars with ride-seekers, allowing drivers to share their cars and earn money. This service allows you to travel 200 miles before paying extra. Got A Question? How To Contact Uber
There have been some really long Uber rides, like the 400-mile trip from Williamsburg, Virginia to New York City in 2016, the 650-mile trip from DFW Airport to Nashville, or the epic cross-country stunt by YouTuber Mr. . Beast, who took an Uberride 2,256 miles from North Carolina to California in 2017.
Uber currently limits the duration of each trip to eight hours. Assuming you’re on a freeway with no traffic, that means your Uber can easily take you 400 miles before the time limit begins.

On the other hand, if you’re going from, say, Cleveland to New York City, eight hours might not be enough time. But while Uber rides last up to eight hours, if you’ve completed one ride, you can request one more ride.
