Cleaning Supplies You Need For An Apartment – Looking for the best apartment cleaning checklist to help you keep your apartment clean? Here’s a simple and easy guide to cleaning your apartment.
I know cleaning the apartment is easier said than done. But cleaning doesn’t have to be an arduous task… It can be simple, effective and fun (?)! I have a little trick I’ve been doing for a few years that tricked my brain into thinking I like to clean….
Cleaning Supplies You Need For An Apartment
What I do is super simple – we all have a favorite TV show we’re looking forward to watching (whether you’re single or sporty) and I record the show for cleaning time. I know it can be difficult, but if you wait and clean while you’re at it, not only are you healing, you’re also starting to crave the clean. I recommend trying this little trick and who knows, you might start to love cleaning.
Best Cleaning Tools 2023
Anyway, I use this cleaning checklist religiously and I also have a PDF that goes through my entire process in more detail. I recommend downloading the PDF file – it’s completely free and offers a weekly, monthly and semi-annual cleaning checklist to keep your apartment looking bright and shiny.
The Swiffer Duster has saved me so many times. Honestly, it makes me big with the amount of dust it collects. If you have fans or slats, you need this duster. It reaches places I physically can’t and is one of my best buys.
I spent a lot of time in my apartment without a mop. But please learn from my mistakes. You need a mop. Swiffer “mop” only cleans surface dirt. A mop removes all the dirt and grime that has stuck to the floor.
One of the best gifts I’ve ever received (yes, I ordered a Dyson for Christmas). Other vacuums have nothing on the Dyson and I will take it to the grave with me. I know there are some fools out there who do almost as good a job. But if you can get your hands on a Dyson, I highly recommend it!
Can I Afford Apartment Cleaning Services? (hint: Yes!)
If you want a classic, clean scent that reminds you of your childhood, this is the window cleaner for you. It smells so nostalgic that I can’t use any other window cleaner right now.
I love microfiber cloths. Not only do they work well, but I always try to use them instead of paper towels whenever possible. Just wash them and they’re like new!
Ms. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Spray smells amazing (I also love their hand soaps). The countertop sprayer really removes all the dirt and grime from my kitchen counters.
For those with stainless steel appliances, I highly recommend this stainless steel cleaner – it does the job and removes all stains, fingerprints, basically anything and everything stainless steel.
Cleaning Products I Swear By When My Mind Is A Mess
This cleaner is essential if you have a disposal. I can’t tell you how important cleaning your disposal is.
Bathroom cleaner is not an “exciting” thing to buy, but you definitely need it! Lysol does a great job and I haven’t been disappointed so far.
Bleach spray. I spray EVERYTHING and let it rest. I really want to make sure it kills all the nasty germs that make their way into my bathroom.
I definitely recommend wearing gloves when cleaning the bathroom. These creatures don’t deserve to be in your hands
Places In Your Nyc Apartment You’re Probably Forgetting To Clean
Disinfectant wipes are extremely important. Whether you need a quick clean on your phone or bathroom counters, these wipes will do the job.
There are so many great options when it comes to washing powder, but this Kasum seems to be the highest rated!
Fabric softener is one item on this list that is not necessary, but I love how it makes my clothes smell good.
For those stains you randomly find on your clothes and think, “I have no idea how you got there.” As an extremely clumsy person, I owe you a stain remover.
The Ultimate First Apartment Cleaning Checklist
I’ve talked about this carpet cleaner so many times on my Instagram Stories and I mean it when I say I love this product. I use it to remove stains from my sofas, rugs, etc. It really works.
If I can only give you one tip, start with the surfaces and finish cleaning with the floor! When cleaning surfaces, a lot of dirt and dust falls to the floor. If you clean the floor first, you’ll automatically get the floor dirty again, which I know you don’t want! Start at the highest surface and work your way down.
I learned this the hard way. I had no idea that dishwashers needed cleaning, but it’s true. Your dishwasher has a small bucket at the bottom (at least mine does) and it catches all the food that comes out of your dishes. Take the bucket, throw the rubbish in the trash, then wash with soap! You must do this at least once a month.
Lemons are so amazing for cleaning. I like to put a frozen lemon in the bin and turn it on for a few seconds. Bonus, it makes your kitchen smell so good.
The Ultimate First Apartment Checklist: Things You Didn’t Know You Needed
Dirt likes to collect under kitchen cabinets, so I always grab a duster and try to get it all out. It’s disgusting and I do it often. I recommend doing this too!
Magic erasers will remove all the marks you find on your wall counters etc. I promise that when cleaning you will find little marks that you didn’t even know existed, and that’s where the magic eraser comes in!
