Crayola Colored Pencils For Adult Coloring Books – In 2015, Crayola came out with a new line of adult coloring books, pencils, and fine line markers. Crayola advertised their large boxes of crayons, $25, which is a little pricey for me. They didn’t advertise this “Aged Up” line of colored pencils and fine line markers. I’ve come across them at Target and Walmart. I grabbed these because I liked the packaging. I love white and colors and bright colors. I also liked the double sided colored pencils. I have the blenders packed which I will post soon. These are some of my favorite colored pencils. I think the pencils in this box were closely related, a shade darker or lighter, but they are contrasting colors that work well together when coloring.
I also found this handy chart on how to make different colors with colored pencils on the Crayola website. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to use the tips.

These fine line markers are non-washable, with a smudge tip on the back of the box. And one more thing, by the way, the packaging isn’t called Aged Up, but that’s what they’re called on Target’s website.

Crayola Colored Pencils
“You know… I’m a professional artist, and when I bought them to highlight my books, I was really surprised by the amount of pigment in Crayola pencils. I think it’s better than some of my very expensive branded pencils! I’m thinking of buying a bulk pack for my studio. Super nice colors. I made a page in one of my adult coloring books and was pleasantly surprised. —

“I bought this set of 150 Prismacolor pencils about 2 weeks ago and did some drawings. So firstly, it’s INCREDIBLY soft, easy to blend, and the result is great. On the subject of chipping, honestly, I’ve sharpened the colors in the set several times and never chipped. Tip, before you start using your kit, take a hair dryer and try moving the heat over the pencils and letting them cool for 15-30 minutes. this way you’ll avoid breaking the pencils when you sharpen them. I definitely recommend prismacolor pens to anyone who likes to draw.” —

“I can’t compare them to other higher quality lead sets, that’s pretty much all I’ve ever used as they’re the industry standard. Of course they don’t come without flaws, number 1, the most famous being the breakage problem, the lead basically falls out if too many sharpen. Turns out there is actually a solution. I went to my local art store and spoke to a very knowledgeable employee, he recommended a pencil sharpener made specifically for soft lead by “pro art”. This is a MUST HAVE if you plan on buying them as a regular sharpener just doesn’t cut. As far as pencils go, they wear very quickly, but they color and blend very well, so they are worth the cost if you take them seriously in your work. They are waxy, so they slide very naturally on the paper, I press hard, and they last quite well, without the paper untorn.—
“Great pens. The Irojiten pencils are very strong pencils and have a dynamic range of colors. I’ve only been drawing with colored pencils for about 6 months and I’m usually very heavy. The hardness of these pencils allows for a very fine sharpening, making it easy to achieve fine details. The colors match beautifully and has helped me improve my potency.—
“If you’re looking to buy these for adult coloring books, you can’t go wrong. They set the color in a rich, buttery layer that blends easily and looks gorgeous. You can layer the colors and achieve a variety of effects using a colorless blender or just the pencils themselves. If you find these for adults for a coloring book, I recommend supplementing them with the cheaper, harder Prismacolor Verithin pencils (which match the colors perfectly unlike Crayola, etc.) as they retain a sharper tip for small areas and extend the life of your pricier Prismacolors.—
“I just love them. I’ve had them for three years now. It’s perfect for people who want to get back into painting but don’t have the time, and people like me who are afraid to make a mistake on a ‘masterpiece’. They’re really fun and so easy. Intense, saturated colors can produce almost professional results, take it with you on your travels. It’s so easy and not messy at all. With a brush, you can remove the color from the pencil and paint as usual. I love them. They’re really fun.”

“I love colored pencils – they are my favorite medium for drawing and coloring – and these are great! With Prismacolor, they are right there in terms of quality and perhaps lay down an even more intense layer of pigment. than Prismacolor. I use an electric sharpener and have had no problems with the wire breaking when sharpening. The only downside is that the box doesn’t open nicely to make all the colors easily visible and accessible; a staggered arrangement would be much better.
“The pencils are stored in a nice metal can and there are 3 layers of pencils in total. The tubes are round and have a nice black coating and there is a color indicator at the end of each pencil, the ends of the pencils are rounded so you can’t tell if the edges are straight or not. The cores are quite thick, but not as elaborate as the more popular prisms. The guides are pre-sharpened and can be easily sharpened with a high-quality sharpener. The liners are very soft and creamy, pay quite well and are vibrant.
“These colored pencils are fantastic! They rarely need to be sharpened for some reason – either it’s my painting style or I’m not sure, but me
