Beginner Crochet Blanket Patterns (free)
I love crocheting so much that I miss it so much if I take a break. I believe everyone should have a hobby and feel incredibly blessed to make a living doing what I love.
Whoever said pick a job you love and you won’t have to work a day is absolutely true.
I like to design projects that are easy to work with and look good. That said, I also like to design for various skill levels.

Grandma’s Textured Lap Blanket Pattern • Oombawka Design Crochet
My inspiration comes from eclectic sources: colors, sewing patterns, items you see in stores and magazines. I don’t plan my projects ahead of time, I just do whatever comes to mind in the moment.
My favorite part of crochet is matching colors. I almost never buy yarn online because I love seeing and touching it. Colors may look completely different on screen.
I’ve always loved quick projects. So I decided to design a simple textured blanket that people of all skill levels can enjoy. This crochet blanket pattern will only take a few hours of your time and is the perfect gift for your loved ones.

A Modern Crochet Blanket Pattern
I primarily use Lion Brand Wool-Ease, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, and Lion Brand Heartland yarns. This time I wanted to try something new, so I tried Lion Brand Color Made Easy and I really liked it.
It’s a thick #5 yarn, but not too thick or rope-like. The yarn has excellent stitch definition and the stitches don’t get mixed up like other chunky yarns. The yarn comes in my favorite vibrant colors which are usually hard to find in yarn of this thickness. This yarn is also great for making chunky hats, hoodies and sweaters.
I’m excited to design more projects with this yarn. Since this yarn comes in so many beautiful colors, I’m sure you’ll find a color combination that suits your taste. I think kombucha, alabaster and basalt colors are perfect for this pattern. You can also try avocado, alabaster and wheat tones for a more neutral look.
You should know basic crochet stitches and how to use half double crochet decreases. I would classify this mode as an advanced beginner.

New crocheters looking for an easy Netflix project, those looking for last-minute baby shower gifts, or vendors looking to create craft fair inventory will love this project.
The stitch pattern is so simple and repetitive that you’ll have it memorized in no time. So grab your hook, some Color Made Easy Yarn in the color of your choice and let’s get started.
