Dawn Of The Dead 2004 Movie – I have just been informed that we will be going off air and switching to an emergency transmission system.
So I watched Dawn of the Dead tonight. While the original is one of the greatest zombie and horror movies of all time. Zack Snyder’s 2004 remake is a great zombie movie, and I used the word awesome. There are so many things about the movie that make it great. But there are so many people on the other side of the camp. It’s technically a remake, but it’s a film that can stand on its own, a far cry from Romero’s masterpiece. I mean, what do they have in common? Well, zombies and most of the movie takes place in a mall. The nice thing about Snyder’s Dawn of Dean, she hasn’t forgotten her past or where she came from. We get to see original cast members Ken Forry, Tom Savini and Scott Reiniger make cameos. Other than that, there is nothing to compare it to.

Synopsis: When her husband is attacked by a zombie neighbor, Anna (Sarah Polley) manages to escape, only to find her entire Milwaukee neighborhood overrun by the dead. After being interrogated by a wary cop, Kenneth (Ving Rhames), Anna joins the small group that gravitates to the local mall as a bastion of security. After convincing the suspicious guards that they are not tainted, the group unites to fight the undead hordes.

What I love about this movie, it’s not a sequel. We see the beginning of the outbreak and beyond. The film follows Anna on her journey from work to the mall. To be honest, her manner is terrifying. I mean, she wakes up when her husband or whatever is eaten by the little girl by the neighbor across the street. The girl is knocked down and jumps up to attack further. Then Anna’s husband comes back and looks here. I mean, this is an intense opening to the film. The credits roll and they kind of draw us in from around the world, all set to Johnny Cash’s When the Man Comes Around. perfection.
Anna meets Kenneth, Michael, Andre and Luda and heads to the mall, which is protected by C.J. my favorite More people show up and we have a wonderful montage of life during a zombie apocalypse in a mall. Good thing the energy and food supplies seemed to last a long time. We see the characters grow together and become a family in a way. In the short time of the film we really get to know the characters and we care about them a lot from the small development. Which really complements the writing and directing of the film.
This is a beautifully shot film, from the cinematography to the locations, this remake was handled with care. The zombie makeup was great. At first the zombies looked fresh, some wounds and blood. But as the film goes on, the rot and the spectacle get worse. Great job for a zombie movie. I also love that the colors seem oversaturated throughout the film, it works so well.
This movie has it all, heart, laughs, gore, meat eating, sharpshooting competition and boat rides!

Running zombies bother people, but I’m glad to know that Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead might just be the perfect zombie movie. It’s miles ahead of The Walking Dead, which I know is a show. But with all due respect to Romero, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead were great, but they also serve as the foundation upon which all other zombie movies are built, and I think 2004’s Dawn of the Dead can be the top. Now, I know some of you may be flipping out, but this is one man’s opinion. Don’t discount this movie because it’s a damn “remake”.

This is the intended sequel to the Day of the Dead remake. Snyder was to produce and the film was to take place in Las Vegas. While I would love to see a sequel, and once possible a direct sequel, this didn’t seem like the best idea to me.
It would be nice to see James Gunn and Zack Snyder team up once again. Take a break from DC comics and Marvel comics and bring us a good remake of Romero’s Day of the Dead. I’ve had two now, a third won’t hurt. Especially when these two are making the movie.

I have been watching horror movies since I was 6 years old. The story goes that one Saturday night, my mom and I were watching movies and she fell asleep on the couch. I set the HBO channel and the movie I was watching ended and the next one, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. This was sometime in 1986. Then I saw the whole movie, I was on the edge of my seat. When my mom woke up, she asked me what she had just finished and I said, “Freddy.” We talked about it for weeks and finally she broke down and rented me some horror movies. She Rented It, Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, Re-Animator, Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives and Halloween II. I watched them all and fell in love with horror movies forever. 5 Horror Movies to Watch Inferno (1980) A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) The Beyond (1981) Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives (1986) Horror of Dracula (1958) Second in Romero’s Dead series. Zack Snyder directed the remake and James Gunn, yes James Gunn, wrote the screenplay. There’s a 26-year gap between the two films, so let’s jump in and see if the vintage is better than the modern!
The main things these two movies share are the name and the setting. In both movies we have survivors using the mall as a zombie shelter. The remake also features a few cameos, such as the actor who plays Peter, Ken Forey, appearing as a televangelist who delivers his famous quote from above. We also see the actor who plays Roger for a second as the general and Tom Savini, the leader of the biker gang. He appears as the county sheriff telling people where to shoot the zombies. Besides these few similarities, these films are as different as night and day.
The main difference between the films is definitely the zombies. The original has typical Romero zombies wandering aimlessly around slowly waiting for their prey. They move at a slow pace and run easily. The zombies in the remake are fast and will stalk their prey unless they find an easier target. The zombies in the remake are also much more aggressive. These zombies are not the kind to walk past. They will tear you to pieces.

The second big difference is the characters. Romero’s story focuses on four main characters. Pregnant Fran, Steve, Peter and Roger. The four enter the mall and clear it of zombies to become their own sanctuary. In Snyder’s remake, he has a larger cast of characters. The story begins with Anna meeting Kenneth, Michael, Andre and Luda, Andre’s pregnant girlfriend. They go to the mall where they find CJ, Bart and Terry. Soon after, they receive a truckload of other survivors too numerous to name. This makes the stakes higher as there is more room for characters to die, whereas in the original we only have four to worry about.
The endings are also very different. In the 1978 version, only Fran and Peter were left after the biker gang entered. Peter is about to kill himself and makes Fran go in the helicopter without him. At the last minute, Peter changes his mind and rushes to join Fran and together they fly away from the flooded mall. In the 2004 version, after Michael is bitten, he stays behind while Anna, Nicole, Kenneth and Terry take a yacht trip to an island they believe is free of zombies. In found footage style, we see that they have arrived on the island only to be greeted by a horde of zombies. Their fate is left unknown, but it is clearly not favorable. The ending of the 1978 version leaves viewers with a little more hope for the main character than the 2004 version. It makes us believe that they succeeded.
They seem like two separate films all together. There are no real similarities other than the name. That said, I think if you put the two up against each other, the 1978 original
