For whatever reason, they’ve been releasing cheap, straight-to-DVD Dungeons and Dragons movies, and this is the latest attempt. On the plus side, it’s slightly better than the first film, so if the upward trajectory continues the way it is now, the next one should be a good movie.

The prologue tells us that the title book was turned into a book by an ancient wizard shortly before his death. Bones became cover, skin became sides, and blood became paint. . Back in the present day, our hero Grayson (Jack Durkes) wants to become one of the knights, but his father has been kidnapped by the forces of the evil Lord Shadrocks, who wants to put the book together. So, Grayson must join them if he wants to save his father.
What’s really interesting about the plot is that it’s basically an expanded version of what happens when the DM decides to become a giant jack for the party’s paladin.
Oh, and if you do something bad, you lose all your powers? Well, let’s put you in a position where you have no choice but to do evil, and see how you handle it! Haha!
While it basically plays like an undercover cop movie, it’s still more interesting than the plot of the original D&D movie, and Grayson faces some tough moral dilemmas over the course of the story, so it definitely gets points for that. .

But this is still a Syfy Channel Dungeons and Dragons movie, so it wouldn’t be complete without the inevitable tragic special effects and sequels. Of course, you can’t expect much from a fantasy story set on a $12 million budget, but it’s still a shame that the obligatory Dragon Wars is so rushed and cheap. Otherwise, only the best entry prologue is animated, the battles are surprisingly bloodless, especially considering it’s level 15 and the whole villain is a jerk. Damn, Wikipedia, you promised me a bad boy crush!
Overall he seems generic and unmotivated, which doesn’t help in the first two acts, where Grayson basically wanders off and misbehaves. It’s fun in a sad DM kind of way to see how our noble paladin deals with challenges, but it’s not a very fun adventure. But it has to be said that things get a lot better for the final act: there’s a very cool and genuinely creepy monster in the form of an undead child, followed by an incredibly funny armored book cover. The moral dilemmas begin to bear fruit, and there is a real sense of dread and menace as Grayson manages to infiltrate an enemy stronghold. Well, the final battle was faster than the dragon battle, and it’s a shame that Shathrax lost without a fight. Director, cut! We have no money. It’s a pack, folks!
It’s definitely a Dungeons and Dragons movie, not the first in the series. It’s not much, but the occasional little hint of the game gives it more personality than the general imagination. The story begins with the party thief setting a trap for the treasure chest, Grayson going to Adventures R Us and buying a holding bag (which he later uses to hide the dead body in a very cute joke) and there’s a scene. After a successful raid the party splits the looting area. I wonder why you don’t give the hero a vorbal sword and let him cut anyone, that wizard is very good at fighting. I think she needs to step up a few steps in the fighter.
Needless to say, this is not a good film. But it’s a far cry from its traditional predecessors, and much better than you might expect from its pedigree. I still miss Jeremy Irons because watching him humiliate himself for a quick buck is one of the funniest things you’ll ever see in a fantasy movie.

It’s an interesting story and feels like you’re watching a Dungeons and Dragons movie. It’s not great, but for cheap, cheesy fantasy flash, you could do a lot worse.
If it has a dragon or a spaceship, Emmeline Roberts-Harry will see it. He looks forward to the day when he sees a dragon fighting a spaceship.
