Debuted at the German Fantasy Filmfest in 2015. No premiere in theaters. But after going between film festivals, it went straight to DVD.

And I almost ignored it. The movie poster-style iconography chosen for Shudder is tongue-in-cheek, and a little lame.
It begins with the main character (Joe, played by Ed Spellers), a train guard/ticket collector coming off his shift. Joe passes for a promotion to supervisor, and the newly appointed supervisor promptly assigns Joe a double shift. He will work on the Red Eye Train in Eastborough. Because Ken called in sick.
In the middle of the night, the train hits a deer and stops in the middle of the fictional Thornton Forest.
Admittedly, I intended to run this movie in the background for evening multitasking. But after about 20 minutes, I was caught.

, I didn’t think much was possible in what I now call “transit horror.”
Extremely fastidious, Ed Spears (“Eragan”, “A Lonely Place to Die”, “The Stranger”) performed very well in what could be described as a “mature” role, while efficiently managing his out-of-shape crew of passengers. Written to attract and repel each other. If you haven’t guessed by now, this is a werewolf movie, and the corresponding costume design, while immediately jarring, was both effective and thoughtful.
It could have done without moments that felt uninspired and contrived (eg a conversation between two characters, Kate and Adrian, about a past relationship that never happened).
And Joe’s love interest, Ellen (Holly Weston, Further Advice ) was on the verge of bringing a lot more to the film in terms of strength, determination and hutspa, but alas, she didn’t.

But things change when devil worshipers break into their house and attack the couple. The cultists then summon a demon and attempt to spill blood on Mia’s doll, causing the doll to become evil. The story then follows John and Mia fighting the evil spirit. This movie will make you jump out of your seats and really scare the crap out of you.

This is one of the best psychological thrillers we have seen. It is very intense and gripping from start to finish and if you haven’t already you should watch it.
