Everything You Need To Know About Stock Splits

Yanely: We are getting into a very big and sometimes stressful topic, which is the stock market. The stock market is basically a place where investors can buy and sell shares of publicly traded companies. In this way, they can participate in the growth and success of these companies. Investing in the stock market has been one of the best ways to build wealth over time. And when I say time, I mean it. Because this is not a get-rich-quick strategy. Investing in the stock market is something that will serve you well if you are in it for the long haul. So keep that in mind. But how to start the stock market? At first it can seem very confusing and there are many terms, for example, what is the difference between a stock, a bond and an ETF? Well, don’t worry because we’ll break it all down with one of my best financial friends, Delyanna Barros. Delyanne is a money coach and I love her TikToks about investing.

Delyanne Barros (TikToks): If you have a 401K and an IRA, which should you invest in first? // Here are four investment mistakes you absolutely must avoid, especially in 2023. // Why Use a Roth IRA? To save on taxes. Money coming in is after tax, money going out after that, all growth and compounding tax free, 59 and a half.

Delyanne Barros: Like many people, he introduced me to the workplace. So I, you know, got my new lawyer job, I thought, “Oh, I’m going to get my big paycheck.” Then they ask you, “Okay, would you like to sign up for our 401k?” right? And I, 401, what? So no one explained it to you, did they? They say, “Oh, you know, it’s like a retirement account.” When you hear that you’re retired and you’re 24, 25 years old, it seems like a problem later. This sounds like a future problem to me, not a current one. So let him handle it. You know, I have to pay off these student loans, I have to get a new apartment, I have to buy new clothes for my new job. These are the things that worry you the most. So you tend to put it on the back burner, which is what I did. I sat on it for three years. Finally, I was approached by the HR manager, a woman of color. And he said, “Why don’t you contribute to the 401k?” Do you understand what we have put in for you? That you are leaving money on the table. I didn’t understand it when he said it. And he explained, you know a little bit about how it grows over time. I said, “Okay, that sounds good to me.” So I started participating, you know, enough to get matches, match money for free. And over time, it gradually began to grow. I learned what an index fund was, then I learned what a brokerage account was, then I learned what a Roth IRA was. This thing came later. And I was living in New York at the time, wasn’t I? In finance in Mecca, I don’t know any of these things. So I realized to myself, “Oh, I don’t know that. I’m sure there are other people who don’t.” It’s crazy, isn’t it?

This Is The Stock Market On Steroids

Delyanne Barros: Yeah, definitely. I thought, oh, let’s think of an interesting analogy for the stock market, because I love analogies. And I’m a visual learner. So I’m thinking about buying one share of a company, like downloading one song from an album, right? If someone tells you, hey, there’s a new artist coming out and I want you
