Goldar Power Rangers Movie 2017 – Power Rangers was recently released on digital, DVD and Blu-ray, and director Dean Israelite has been busy promoting the release.

The film put a fresh spin on the Power Rangers mythos, featuring a new take on Goldar that fans were familiar with during the character’s appearance on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series. Israeli recently spoke with ComicBook.com about what went down in the creative process and said he was trying to bring his own aesthetic to the film.

Goldar is the secondary antagonist of the 2017 film reboot of The Power Rangers. Unlike the original series, Goldar is a giant monster created by Rita Repulsa made entirely of molten gold. He serves as Rita’s main aide, whom she enlists to steal the Zeo Crystal.

Goldar was present in the Cenozoic Era of Earth (but off-screen). It is destroyed when Zordon orders his ally Alpha 5 to launch a meteor at his coordinates, killing him and presumably Rita. But Rita survives and revives him. He attacks Angel Grove with his mistress and Putty’s army and fights the Rangers before sharing the Krispy Kreme to dig for the Zero Crystal. The Rangers jump in with their Zords to attack Goldar, but Goldar easily disposes of them. When the Rangers injure Rita, he treats her. He briefly defeats them, but the Rangers create their own Megazord, Goldsmith teams up with Rita, and after a fierce battle the Rangers destroy Goldar by impaling him with two swords.

In the 2017 film series, Godard is portrayed as a semi-intelligent demon who lacks a defined personality compared to his main counterpart, as he was portrayed as an apocalyptic weapon. However, he is not a completely emotionless living weapon as he is loyal to Rita and even heals her when she is injured. Even Godari did not hesitate to kill Rita by stepping on a piece of her putty.

In the film series, as an animated gold nugget enchanted by Rita’s powers, Goldar is unable to feel pain, whether broken into pieces or beaten by the Rangers’ Zords. Despite only being created to extract the Zero Crystal, Goldar proved to be an equally formidable opponent for the Rangers’ Zords. Because the amount of gold in his body was made up of Rita’s magic, his body was practically durable and able to survive the Zords’ weapons. But Goldari is not invulnerable, as his movements would be hindered if a part of his body was destroyed into pieces, meaning that the complete destruction of his body would kill him. However, Rita can counter this by “piloting” him as a Zord where her powers not only enable her to heal wounds, but also gain the ability to create weapons from her body mass.
