Everything You Need To Know About Joining The Air Force
When people think about joining the Air Force, they often think about how they can survive basic training and a military career. However, before you get a chance to board the bus, you must fill out
So you want to join the Air Force but don’t know what to know or join? Well, it’s very simple. The hard limits are:
If you don’t meet these requirements, you won’t get to the paperwork filling stage, it’s a straight no. A high school diploma is probably the easiest of the three to fix, if you’re planning on enrolling you’ll know these minimum requirements.
The next part of the requirements for joining the Air Force is the paperwork. You must

Paperwork with your recruiter. A background check and all of your personal information is required. You talk at length about what you want in your military career, including what you plan to do in the Air Force. For the paperwork, you need the following personal documents:
Some of these are for identity verification, while others are for background checks. Unfortunately, not everyone is Steve Rogers (Captain America), so the Air Force has to put in a little effort to make sure you’re not a member of Hydra.
But what about the Army Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)? Don’t jump the gun! Before taking the ASVAB, you should talk to the recruiter and make sure you meet these requirements with additional restrictions.
Obviously, Basic Military Training (BMT) gives you a lot of physical and mental training, but the Air Force needs to make sure you have a good baseline before you deploy. Most gung-ho workers won’t even get on the bus until they meet the weight requirements for both men and women:

I had to learn this the hard way by losing 50 pounds! So if you’re going to give up today, don’t give up! Just make sure that when you gain weight, you continue this way as long as you are in the Deferred Income Program (DEP). This is basically a holding space that you can have until you officially go into training.
Once you’ve checked all the boxes, it’s time to practice the ASVAB at your recruiting station. This gives the recruiter some idea of what jobs you might have available and how you might consider applying.
This can also be a quick rejection… But don’t worry! The minimum score for high school graduates is 36 and 65 for GED holders. If you join, you will have many opportunities to train and eventually move into a career that interests you more.
From there, they will send you to a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) to take the actual ASVAB. You may also complete a number of physical and mental screenings that include mobility, hearing and vision tests.

The jobs available to you are based on these composite scores, which skill areas you excel in, and any physical limitations such as color blindness.
These jobs are called Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC). When you return to your recruiting station and talk to your recruiter, you will discuss the available AFSCs with them and discuss which one is the best fit for you. You classify your AFSC and submit this list for consideration. Just remember that you don’t get your first choice – the needs of the Air Force always outweigh your personal needs.
This method allows you to “lock in” your AFSC and expect to earn it each time you graduate from BMT, or enter your BMT as “Open General” and earn your AFSC during intermediate training. Open General candidates receive a shorter list of AFSCs available during training because the only jobs available are those with immediate openings, but they have opportunities based on their ASVAB scores.
For other specialized AFSCs, such as cryptological linguist, you must take an additional test to determine whether
