It’s easy to turn a simple cupcake into something with many benefits. there’s more depth and meaning behind it than it says… 10 minutes ago when it was just a little sponge with a thick, creamy custard and a 1m stroke perched and flowing just above.
So when I made some cupcakes for Russell to take with him to work at Sky Sports (of course I wanted to make them look like nicer shoes), I was happily approached by the Sky Poker guys asking if I was ready. do the same, the same for them, but with a poker theme. I wasn’t going to deny myself a project like this, so I put on my cake hat and started drawing poker chips that I could eventually turn into cakes, as well as some muffins like the ones I mentioned above, just carefully stuffed with rice paper. their soft insides and simple swirls.
My first instinct for this cake was to use early Skyreds and Blues like in these cupcakes. But then I started to really think about it and realized that I wasn’t just making cakes for the broad spectrum that is Sky Sports, I was serving cakes for Sky Poker, less of a broad area and more related to the Sky theme. : So as long as I have those sharp red and blue poker chips sitting there, I’m happy (and hopefully Sky Poker is too).
The flavors in both of these breads are consistently vanilla-based; I chose the classic cupcake found here. Then moving on to the cake, I used Peggy Porschen’s Sugar Cookie recipe (couldn’t hang up my shiny new book) but, to be completely fair, the Primrose version is much crispier without the milky flavor. which Peggy’s version is proud of.
