How To Train Your Dragon Dragons Names
Hiccup Haddock introduces himself to the reader and says that he is the first Viking to befriend a Night Fury. He then tells the reader how each of his friends bonded with their dragons: Astrid Hofferson with Stormfly, Fishlegs Ingerman with Meat, Snotlout Jorgenson with Hookfang and Ruffnut, and Tuffnut Thorston with Snow and Belch. Hiccup proudly states that all of Berk’s Vikings have accepted dragons as their friends, making the island the first utopia of dragons and Vikings. Hiccup explains that the Vikings began studying dragons and discovering new species to the point where they believed they had seen them all. However, they were wrong and Hiccup told the reader that the latest discoveries were the Crimson Goregutter and the Hobgobler that the Dragon Riders encountered during the mission. Hiccup explains that some people outside of Berk still hunted and killed dragons, such as Grimmley Greesley. The hunter uses his own deadly dragons whose venom was enough to sedate or kill the dragon. To capture Toothless, Grimmel uses a female Light Fury as bait, but the plan fails and the two dragons begin to bond. Hiccup then explains Light’s anger ability to turn invisible. Once Grimmel knew where Berk was, Hiccup decided to leave the island in search of a hidden world, the legendary home of all dragons. Hiccup soon discovered that the Light Fury was following them, so he made a new tail fin for Toothless to fly on his own. Light’s fury drove the Fangs into the Underworld, and Hiccup and Astrid followed them there. Hiccup then realized that the vikings and dragons needed to be separated so they could live in peace. Years later, Hiccup visits the Underworld and learns that Dandonz has three children named Night Lights.

He shares interesting tidbits about new characters and old favorites with USA TODAY’s Brian Truitt.
The last known dragon of his kind, Toothless—like his human rider and best friend Hiccup (Jay Baruchel)—comes into his own five years after the first film. That is, it is bigger, stronger and bigger in its features. “Not only do they grow up, but they both become leaders of their respective clans,” says DeBlois. Hiccup’s long-lost mother Valka (Cate Blanchett) also unlocks a neat new attribute: secret detachable wings on her back that give her extra flight control.
In the 2010 film Dragon, a hierarchy of dragons was implied, with Alpha at the top. The arctic behemoth has the ability to cooperate with other dragons using ultrasonic means, and instead of breathing fire, it can absorb large amounts of seawater, store it in a thicket around its neck, and then release it at a target. “The Bewilderbeast’s intense icy breath freezes this water in the midst of destruction,” DeBlois says. “It’s a very striking statement that points the way.”
How To Modernize Your Dragon
Meatlug is the perfect partner for his human rider Fishlegs (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and has the mentality of a bulldog: really tough, but cheerful and very sleepy – as he often nods off while flying. But like the other Gronks, Meatlug is adept at fighting when necessary, DeBlois says. “Spits out lava that can rip and burn almost anything.
Stormfly’s appearance is based on a parrot, and she tends to be curious about shiny things. But she’s also deadly, with spikes she can shoot from her tail. DeBlois says it’s given him more personality, along with a pair of new traits: Stormfly likes to retrieve and has a great sense of focus when it comes to things and people he likes, and good tracking ability. “He can find Hiccup and Toothless anywhere on the Viking map.”
A master at finding all that stinks, Skullcrusher is a combination carbogie and truffle pig with the coloring of a scarab. Unlike other dragons, Skullcrusher has more than one rider in Dragons 2, but he is extremely loyal and knows a good man when he meets one. “Despite his appearance,” says DeBlois, “he’s just a nice slacker with a big ax he uses to chop the ground.”
Hukfang likes to light up and make a dramatic statement when possible. “He’s very proud and you can imagine him as a bull in the ring, a real ship,” says DeBlois. “But he is no match for Drago Bludwhist’s intensity and dominance,” said villain Djimon Hounsou. Nightmares like Hookfang also boast the fiery saliva that Hiccup used to power his new weapon, the Dragonblade.
