Not Much More Than Meets The Eye In ‘transformers: Rise Of The Beasts’
In 1994 Brooklyn, ex-military electronics specialist Noah Diaz is struggling to find work to support his family, and his friend Rick is convinced to steal a Porsche 911 and sell it, only to discover that the car is an Autobot Mirage in disguise. Meanwhile, museum intern Elena Wallace examines an ancient statue containing the Maxim symbol and accidentally opens it to reveal half of the transwarp key hidden inside. The key releases an energy beam that is detected by Optimus Prime, which summons the other Autobots; Contacted by Mirage in the middle of Noah’s attempted theft, Noah is roped into the robot’s mission to retrieve the key so they can use it to return to their home world, Cybertron.
Captured by the Key’s signature, terrorists arrive on Earth, and Elena is caught in the crossfire when the villains attack the Autobots outside the museum. Scourge incapacitates Bumblebee and steals the main half before Maximal Airazor arrives and knocks him out. Airazor tells the Autobots that the Maximals have been hiding on Earth for thousands of years and split the transwarp key in two to keep Unicron from getting it. Despite the danger, Optimus Prime insists on returning the key so the Autobots can use it to return home, while Noah plans to destroy the key to protect his world.
Elena’s studies allow her to conclude that the other half of the key must be found in a secret temple in Peru, and the group exits the Autobot cargo plane, the Stratosphere. In Peru, they meet the resident Autobot Wheeljack, who leads them to the temple, but soon realize that half of the keys are missing. The terrorists attack again, ending with the destruction of Airzor by Unicron’s dark powers. Later, the Autobots meet with Optimus Primal and the other Maximals, who explain that they have handed over the second part of the Key, entrusting it to the humans they have worked with for a thousand years. Scourge’s corruption caught up with Airazor, driving him into a rage, and he was forced to kill Primal to save Elena. In the chaos, Noah tries to destroy the second half of the Key, but Optimus convinces him not to. Instead, it was stolen by the Scourge, who assembled the two halves atop a volcano, erected a tower, and opened a portal to the surface through which Unicron would soon arrive.
When Optimus Prime and Noah see where their selfishness is leading them, they agree to work together to defeat the forces of evil. While the Autobots and Maximals battle the Terrorcons and Predacons, Noah and Elena hide near the transwarp key, planning to disable it with an access code Elena finds. In the fight, Mirage is seriously injured by the Scourge, but transforms her damaged body into a powerful exo suit for Noah so they can fight. The energy released by the key activates a dormant energy reservoir beneath the valley where Bumblebee is held, which infuses his dead body with energon and brings him back to life, his awakening turning the tide of battle. Optimus Prime kills the Scourge, but not before destroying the control console to prevent it from shutting down. Ready to sacrifice himself, Prime destroys the key and destroys the portal, but Noah and Primal are able to save him from the vortex.
