Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun, the long-awaited retelling of Twilight from the point of view of vampire Edward Cullen instead of Bella Swan, is up for the top spot. 1 this week on the USA Today bestseller list, selling more than 1 million copies in its first week. This number includes pre-sales and all formats: print, e-books and audiobooks.

“We are thrilled to bring people back into the world of the Twilight saga and celebrate this momentous achievement with Stephanie and her fans and booksellers,” said Megan Tingley, EVP and Publisher of Little, Brown Books. “For young readers,” USA Today said in a statement. “Besides the physical sales, it’s great to hear how much fans love the novel. Reading’s reaction was: “It was definitely worth the wait!”
In May, when the book’s release date was announced, the author promised USA Today that the fifth book in the youth series would be “darker” and “more desperate.”
According to Meyer, it was not easy to rewrite the established story with established dialogue to make it consistent with the original novel. “Metaphorically, they were like prison bars,” Meyer said. “By far the most exciting part of writing this is the fourth act where Edward and Bella are separated so I can do whatever I want.”
Meyer’s first four books in the series have been best-sellers for more than four years and spawned five blockbusters and a legion of Twilight fans. In total, the saga has sold more than 160 million copies worldwide, having been translated into 49 languages.
A New Twilight Book Is Coming
Will there be another new book in retailing? Possibly, but don’t expect it to be AdWords-centric. Finally, there are other characters in the saga. At the Books-A-Million virtual live event with the author on Monday, Meyer shared with fans what she knows so far.
“I think there are two more books in the world that I want to write. I sketched them and wrote a chapter, I’m thinking of the first one so I know it’s there. I’m not ready to do that right now, I want to do something new,” she said. “For me, a lot of the joy in writing comes from being creative, and I really want to create a new world, new rules, and new mythology. Mythology is like my hobby.” Cullen’s point of view. There are chapters that fans will find familiar, as well as brand new content that adds a whole new layer to the saga.
But for fans hoping we’ll see more of the story through Edward’s eyes, this is bad news.
When asked if she plans to rewrite the entire series through Edward’s eyes, Stefani told The New York Times, “No. Not at all. It’s all for Edward.”
Twilight’: Will There Be A ‘midnight Sun’ Movie?
“Writing from their point of view gives me extra anxiety. And the experience of writing this book was not very pleasant,” she explained. “So no, I don’t want to do that—especially since New Moon would be a nightmare of depression and emptiness. I think it gives you enough of an understanding of what it’s like to be Edward so that you can look at the other books and you’ll understand. What’s going on in his mind.”
Different ways, but don’t expect new content to come out anytime soon. What does she plan to write next? “I have three candidates now. I work on them from time to time,” she said.
“When the midnight sun comes out and passes, I’ll see who attracts me. I want to do something inside.
A fantasy where you should have a card at the beginning of the book, but we’ll see if it’s picked.”
Twilight: Is A Midnight Sun Movie Actually Happening?
It is highly unlikely that the book will be made into a movie, especially with the original cast. Both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are busy with several other projects, and based on their previous comments about the films, Robert may not want to reprise his role as Edward.
Entertainment Tonight asked director Katherine Hardwick if an alternate Edward-centric version of his original film was possible. Given that she was shooting the film from Bella’s point of view, she said it would be “difficult” to pull off, and that

But from Edward Cullen’s point of view, not Bella Swan’s. The result is a fresh take on a familiar story, and the time spent developing it makes it more interesting to read than the original book. Does this mean what fans can expect?
Everything The Twilight Movies Weren’t Allowed To Change From The Books
. It’s been nearly 10 years since Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson played sparkling vampires, and since then their careers have gone in completely different directions.

It’s been 15 years since Stephenie Meyer released Twilight, but the fandom is stronger than ever because of the release. His new book Midnight Sun. The long-awaited book finally hit the shelves on August 4th and retells the events of the first book from Edward Cullen’s point of view.
You might think that the ending of the story you already know isn’t as exciting as the original story, but fans are getting used to it. Not only does this give a glimpse into Edward’s tortured mind (662 pages in total), but it also reveals some interesting new details about the characters. As Mayer says, “Some people will like some characters more and some people less, because he’s not only spending time with them like that, but he’s always reading their minds.”
Naturally, after reading the book, the following question arises for fans: Will there be more books? While Mayer doesn’t plan to rewrite more Twilight books from Edward’s point of view—she said that “writing from his point of view gives [her] extra anxiety”—she has ideas for two other Twilight books. “I think there are two more books in the world that I want to write,” she said during the Books-a-Million Q&A.
