The content here is interesting if you look at it as you like, most of the Jane got a gun set by 1940s or 1950s Hollywood lan I found more than satisfactory.

O’Connor’s film is emotional and powerful enough to add to the tale, but Portman’s portrayal of her character’s sadness is not as subdued as her predecessors.

As stripped-down, Western remakes say, “Jane Got a Gun” may not have reinvented the wheel, but it rolls like a solid, well-crafted piece though the gravel road to the screen.

The Weinstein Company may have released the controversial western without fans, but it should please fans of the genre.

The film’s problem is that it never quite manages to make that final gasp worth seeing, let alone working, and is further hampered by a lack of attention in the storytelling department.

There’s nothing wrong with this western – great actors, great story and acting, great content – but somehow it never happens in real life.

With subtle details and unique ideas, this western has a chance to revive the genre in a fun way.

That the film is so well made and so competent should be seen as a success in itself.
