Today is the time to say goodbye. Say hello to the Lamborghini Aventador, a unique sports car – and one that I’ve encountered at various points in my life. This is not going to be a normal driving report, but rather a completely subjective declaration of love for a car that is particularly close to my heart!
In 2011, Lamborghini introduced the successor to the Murciélago at the Geneva Motor Show. Name: Aventador. Design: completely new. Compared to its predecessor, the Filippo Perini-designed Aventador (internal code name LB834) is even more aggressive, powerful and sharp. Except for the wheel arches, there are virtually no curves on the Aventador; its design language is largely based on the Lamborghini Reventón, which is limited to just 35 units (20 coupe, 15 roadster).
My first personal encounter with Lamborghini Aventador also dates back to 2011. At that time, I spent my semester break in London and spent the whole day photographing cars. This hobby, which is unusual for many people, is called car racing. I really enjoyed finding and photographing the rarest and most expensive cars on the streets of London.

Positive effects: In most cases you can see the cars in motion and enjoy the sound. The first cold start of the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in the presentation color “Arancio Argos” burned in my ear canals. This was mainly due to the brief sound of the starter that brings the V12 to life.
The Aventador’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter engine (internal designation L539) was an entirely new development. It started with 700 horsepower and 690 Nm of peak torque, but has been getting stronger and stronger over the years. Despite its large size, the engine weighs only 235 kilograms.
The abbreviation LP700-4 means the following: LP stands for “Longitudinal Posteriore”, the engine is mounted longitudinally at the rear, 700 for power with HP and 4 for all-wheel drive. An acceleration time of 2.9 seconds for the sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of over 350 km/h is as impressive today as it was twelve years ago.
In the following years, I was able to admire many Aventadors up close, which was because the V12 flagship sold very well despite the base price of more than 300,000 euros. The Aventador was so popular that it even exceeded domestic expectations. Originally only 4,000 were to be built, but in 2016 the five thousandth Lamborghini Aventador left the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese. What no one knew at the time: more than twice as many copies would follow.

For the first time, I sat behind the wheel of a Lamborghini in 2017. The day I dreamed of taking my driving test in 2009. The first Lamborghini I was allowed to drive myself was an Aventador SV Coupé in “New Giallo Orion Pearl Effect” paint with black wheels and black brake calipers.
After that I took it easy and still enjoyed every second. Close the scissor door for the first time, open the red curtain for the first time and press the start button. Here again is the unique sound of the starter. I went through each impression and remembered as if the trip was only a few weeks ago.

Everywhere we went with the Aventador, we, or rather the Lambo, turned heads.
