Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie 4k – Do you remember the 90’s? I always thought I did. I fondly look at T-shirts emblazoned with scratches, neon colors, and silly phrases. However, like many people my age, my memories are tinted through the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia. Sometimes a movie comes along that takes your glasses off your face and brings you straight to reality.
One of those movies that tells the cold, bitter truth about the 90s. Dear lord, is this movie terrible.

The dialogues are goosebumps, the clothes are visually objectionable and the pillowcases make no sense. But do you know who liked this film? Seriously, really liked this really awful movie? My 7 year old Fiona. From the moment he saw the hoverboard, he was sold. He liked it so much that he played me the song Alpha 5 from the film at least 4 times in the last 24 hours.

They flew freely in the scenes and there’s great wire work. Fiona particularly liked the move where the flying White Ranger punches the bad guy in the face multiple times in succession.

Everything is too bright and doesn’t fit into the surrounding scenery at all. The film’s main battle scene is between the Rangers and Evan Ozzie in terrifying computer-animated new Zords, who have taken over the body of a giant ant robot, so his face is superimposed on his head. It takes away any weight and tension of the fight, as it looks very artificial. The use of CGI in the film is disturbing and I have a hard time seeing how using it to such an extent could have been a good decision.

Of course, Fiona has a weirdly self-indulgent dislike of girl characters, and she was totally all about the White Ranger. So there was no damage there. It is difficult to understand the overall plot of the film. It’s like someone took a bunch of bad ’90s TV shows, threw them in a bag, shook them and dropped them on the writer’s desk and said, “Here, dude, tube movies.” The fact that I really liked this movie as a kid will make me question my choice for at least another week.
