I love the movie series (I’ve read both books so far). Since I didn’t get a chance to see the movie in the theater, I was eagerly waiting for the third installment to be available to watch at home.

After surviving the second round of the Hunger Games, Katniss wakes up to find herself in District 13, deep underground. She discovers that her mother, sister Prim and best friend Gayle are there, along with others she trusts.

District 13 is led by President Coin (played by Julianne Moore). Katniss learns that her friend Peeta has been captured and held in the capital.
President Coin wants Katniss to be the poster child for a revolution. Katniss wants nothing to do with it until President Coin agrees to help Peeta and Annie (another Hunger Games survivor) free the capital. President Coyne reluctantly agrees.
Katniss is taken to visit other areas. She quickly learns how heartless the capital is and how they don’t care who they kill, including innocent and unarmed men, women and children.
District 13 plans to rescue Peeta and Anna, but the residents of District 13 are not too eager to help Peeta. Peeta can be seen in many promotional videos urging Katniss to give up her fight and take back the territories to restore order to Panem.

Peeta is believed to be under some form of mind control. They must save him before it is too late.
Can the crab be saved? Will Katniss make efforts to unite the provinces to fight for the capital, or will she fail? You should pick up a copy to find out what happens next
I really enjoyed this movie, but found it a little less action packed and a little more political than the previous two movies. I realized this was necessary because there was a lot of politics in this film. I found the end of the movie more interesting than the beginning, especially what happens between Katniss and Peeta. I can’t believe what happened! Now I really want to see the next episode to see if their relationship will ever be fixed.
I’m curious to see how they continue to play Plutarch, played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. He has a few scenes in Mockingjay Part I.

I missed the action of the first two movies but I think this movie leads to a great ending. The movie is more about the rebellion and making Katniss their symbol and figure.
There are a lot of bonus features with Blu-ray. If you have a chance, I recommend you check them out. They offer a lot of behind-the-scenes information about the making of this film. It’s amazing how they shoot the scenes and how much is real and how much is green screen.
The Mockingjay Lives: The Making of Mockingjay Part 1: If you have a chance to watch these bonus features I recommend it. I found them very interesting. It gives me a better understanding of the film when you know how much he’s going to bring everything from the wardrobe to the visual effects to life. After being rescued from the destroyed arena during the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen, her teammates Beatty and Finnick Odair are taken to District 13, an underground rebel facility hidden beneath the ruins of an old District 13, where she is reunited.
