Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episodes – From its first episode, Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — which is about to begin its fifth season — has proven to be more than just another take on the popular 1980s cartoon. This iteration came with different story arcs, a very different art style, and new versions of the characters. It’s TMNT for a new generation, yet still retains the spirit of the older versions. Suffice to say, compiling a list of the top ten episodes was a challenge, but somehow we managed to narrow it down — just like Turtle!
It’s worth noting that while we took into account our original review scores, they weren’t the deciding factor in compiling the Top 10. Sometimes it takes a season or more to put certain episodes into perspective, as you’ll see below. .

Dvd Review
Special shout out to “Trans-Dimensional Turtles” which brings back the original Turtles from ’87. and cleverly combines them with modern turtles. Pure fan service, but you gotta love it. “Turtle power”, indeed!
Aside from the revenge/sacrifice of Donnie’s robot Metalhead, the episode features a rare confrontation between Leonardo and Donatello, as well as a large selection of mutant cameos. Unbeknownst to us, the big exit scene also set the stage for the appearance of the Mighty Mutanimals in future episodes.
While most of Season 4 was about time travel, “Turtles in Time” Season 3 was the green team’s first real experience with it. As far as stand-alone episodes go, this one is largely due to its medieval setting and well-drawn characters (Renet Tilly, Savanti Romero, etc.). Also, it teases another episode on this list — but more on that later.
In “The Good, the Bad and Casey Jones” we have the first real team-up between hot Raphael and Casey Jones, who are very successful. Highlights include the start of Casey’s revenge outfit, a fight between Casey and Raph, and a subway chase that’s still one of the show’s coolest set pieces.
Rise Of The Turtles, Part 1
Although its quality is very low, “Target: April O’Neil” is perhaps the best standalone episode the series has to offer. When Karai starts hunting April again, both Casey and the Turtles join the fight against the Feet (and Chrome Dome) in one amazing, funny, relatable story. This is also the first time we see April’s human life in major conflict with her volatile life.
. “Destruction: Earth!” notable for having all the mutants and the Shredder crew for the first time, and the tragic death of Master Splinter. Suffice to say, this was one of the worst episodes ever, mostly because, well…
“Tale of the Yokai” is amazing on many levels, but the biggest appeal of this is that it brings the Turtles back to the origins of Master Splinter and Shredder. As a follow-up to “Turtles in Time,” this episode delivers on all the feels and tells its own Back to the Future -esque story that explains Tang Shen’s death and how Karai took over the Shredder.
As the final episode of Farmhouse 3, “Vision Quest” sets the Turtles on a journey of self-discovery. Here, each of the brothers touches their spiritual side and takes on one of the four elements: wind, forest, fire and mountain. This really comes with a new “mystical” look for all the Turtles and their awesome machines. In terms of development of the four main characters, this one is hard to beat.

What’s most notable about this episode is that it’s the first time the Turtles fight the Shredder alone — and boy is he mean. After seven episodes building up to the big showdown in Season 1, “The Gauntlet” paid off with a big, stylish showdown while also setting the stage for future episodes. Pure fun, from top to bottom.
From the title, “Wormshake!” It sounds like an odd episode of the week, but it really isn’t. In this two-parter, we get to know one of the show’s original main characters, Tigerclaw, while discussing a Shredder/Kraang conflict of epic proportions. That’s not to mention the 1987 Turtles cameo, which eventually returns in “Trans-Dimensional Turtles.”
In terms of balancing action, comedy and drama, “The Invasion” is the big kahuna of the season finale. This episode has it all, from big, emotional twists to eye-popping spectacle. At the same time, this episode never goes away
