John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) lives a secluded life in northern Thailand. On the country’s border with Burma, however, the longest civil war in the world has been raging for more than sixty years: the Burmese-Karen conflict. However, Rambo, who lives in the mountains and earns a living by selling captured poisonous snakes, has long since given up the fight. This does not change when paramedics, rebels and refugees flock to him from war-torn countries. However, everything will change when a group of missionaries show up and an ‘American river guide’ asks Rambo to take them down the river to a refugee camp, as landmines make the journey there too dangerous. They want to provide medicine, food and Bibles to the persecuted hill tribe ‘Karen’ who live there. Reluctantly, Rambo finally agrees to guide her and the other helpers. A few weeks later, Rambo learns that the missionaries have not returned from the refugee camp, but that the helpers have been seen alive, imprisoned in a Burmese army camp. Rambo’s hatred of violence is still there, but he knows his help is needed. What follows is a descent into Hell on Earth with Sarah (Julie Benz), Michael Burnett (Paul Schulze) and Louise (Graham McTavish).
