Review: ‘allegiant’ Doubles Down On The Worst Aspects Of ‘the Divergent Series’

Hello. I hope you’re reading this because you’re curious about the situation or are a fan of Divergent. The movie Divergent is based on the Veronica Roth series. It’s predicted to be “the next Hunger Games.” These films are not the absolute best, but there is one more that cannot be denied. The whole series has potential.

Generally when it comes to book-to-film adaptations, you want an audience; Audience is money. Now, I think most of the movie theater audiences are book fans. If you don’t know, book lovers are crazy. Despite their crazy fangirl/fanboy minds, sometimes they know what’s best for the series. I don’t mean to be technical, but when it comes to content, I think people should listen. We are followers. Just because you know nothing about filmmaking and cinema doesn’t mean you can’t listen to what your audience wants.

The first installment in the series, Divergent, was pretty faithful to the books and is still my favorite because it stands out more than the other movies. (If you want to hear my opinion on the movies, I’ve linked to all my reviews at the top of this post.) I’ll admit that the movies weren’t the best. However, If you think of some successful movie adaptations, they are better not only in quality but also in fidelity. For example Harry Potter is in incredible shape and you know what? Faithful to the book. The Twilight Saga is another representation of an imperfect franchise; However, as far as I know, the original remains. There are The Percy Jackson… movies. What do all these movies, including Divergent, have in common? They have a huge fan/follower base. If the books didn’t sell, there would never be a movie. I think the movies would have been more successful if they had been a little more faithful to the book. A lot of fans didn’t watch the last two movies because they knew it wouldn’t be like the book. That alone is a huge blip in sales.

What I saw in the previous two films was trying to appeal to a different audience. That’s not a bad thing. But does that mean we have to destroy everything that was built in the first movie? Isn’t it? Most movie watching is entertainment or an investment in what you are watching. In the last films, there was too much action and too many plots. There were plenty of action scenes, but I never really got invested or even engrossed in the last two films. You can read more about the action and CGI abuse in my reviews.

Divergent Allegiant Movie Trailer — The New Trailer For the Divergent Series: Allegiant Will Make You Feel Things

Trying to appeal to a wider audience doesn’t mean engaging in a bunch of pointless action sequences that distract you from the actual plot. There are many ways to make things more appealing to different audiences, and unfortunately, They chose the wrong path. But that’s just my opinion. There are also rumors that they are trying to attract more male fans. Not everyone likes guns. So, do you add meaningful conversation that’s too girly, too romantic, or too comedic?

I hate to talk too much about book loyalty, but I am a book blogger. I will give you an example. Shadow testers stray from books. But they held back the major plot points a bit and the world was still there. There is only one book that we like. They market the program very well. With the last two Divergent movies; It was like watching a movie I knew nothing about. There are still ways to improve things in the book. Because the plot is so different not only from the books, but also from the first movie (not to do with small things like factions); They created a new story with many of these details. Not only are there holes in the plot, but it’s predictable.

I don’t know about you, but I love getting out of the movie world. Divergent did that for me and made me feel every emotion. With the insurgents and their allies, there is nothing left. It was like watching a real action movie full of action.

Second Movie In Divergent Series

I could make an entirely different case for respecting the director’s work or creativity about continuing a movie franchise, but I don’t.

Divergent Book To Film Differences

So the movie franchise failed… but they still wanted to continue the story on the small screen AKA TV. The makers also want a TV series and a spin-off series. I think this is the only time the writer is involved in this work because of their world and their characters. Or if they adapted the book…for me I’m not mad that they didn’t make Ascendant because they had so many problems with the previous two movies. One of the things that pissed me off was that we didn’t get to see Tris die… Another thing I didn’t like was that they wanted to keep going with this series when it clearly failed. They want to do a spin-off series, which I don’t mean at all. If it were for me, I would do it all. The ending of Allegiant doesn’t seem very open-ended; I mean, I can’t really say how they’re going to proceed. This is like a complete remake of Shadowhunters, but instead of a remake. They continue. Repeating something that didn’t work is very different from continuing to do something that didn’t work.

Why do you think this franchise failed? But they lost the chance to be something better with sequels. And loyalty. Another is marketing it as the “Next Hunger Game.” Each of these words has never been said, but you feel it in a promoted way. For example, If anything, it hints at the next “Twilight.” How will it appeal to you? In addition, I don’t know if I’m the only one, but every time I watch the trailers I think, “A new kind of popular teenager!”

Honestly, it’s a shame this series didn’t work out because I love the books and I think the actors are perfect for their roles.

Overall, I’m not upset that they don’t get to continue making movies. I’m more outraged by the fact that they want to continue a failed series with something I’ve never seen adapted to the screen. I don’t want to touch it. We have three films; gr8. I’m not interested in side stories or TV series. Dystopian sequel to The Divergent Series: Allegiant Troubled
