With San Diego Comic-Con 2022 in full swing, rumors are swirling that Cavill might make an appearance during the big Warner Bros. presentation. Is the studio about to release something big?
Director Jaume Collet-Serra talked about the upcoming film and all the rumors about Shazam and Superman potentially showing their faces.
The director noted that in the comics “Black Adam was rooted in his family and what happened to him” and that “at the heart of everything is an emotional story.”

Regarding Zachary Levi’s Shazam and Henry Cavill’s Superman, Collet-Serra pointed out that “[their] movie is an origin story” where “by the time the movie ends, [Black Adam] doesn’t know who [these two heroes are]] :”
“[Their] movie is an original story… “by the time the movie ends, [Black Adam] doesn’t know who Shazam or Superman is… he learns [that] the world is full of superheroes… he has to adjust to why he’s here and what in the world.”
He then teased that Johnson “has such a presence” and that the actor’s very presence is a force of nature:
“He has such a presence… Black Adam doesn’t say much, which allows him to use different resources… he can let his presence permeate the scene the way he has in other roles where he’s had more interaction with people… you can see that he feels good about the role… the moment he goes on set, it’s like a boxer entering the arena.”

Finally, the director clarified that he is not aware of any other side shows or projects.

At the very least, we hope the executives at Warner Bros. they have enough sense to make a Superman actor do something. If he never hangs out with Black Adam, at least give the character another movie.
It’s understandable why many would want the upcoming Anti-Hero to go up against Supes and everyone else, but Shazam is his worst enemy in the source material. It almost feels that way

After literally being committed to playing Black Adam for over a decade, Dwayne Johnson is just months away from finally making his debut as the DC Comics character.
You’ll see the eponymous protagonist battling the Justice Society of America, a team of superheroes the character has ties to in the comics. But Black Adam is also linked to Shazam (formerly known as Captain Marvel) and Superman, so is there a chance we’ll see either of them make a cameo appearance in the upcoming DC movie?

As for Shazam, although Black Adam is portrayed as more of an anti-hero than a true supervillain these days, he’s still known to frequently battle the superpowered Billy Batson. Between that and their powers coming from The Wizard (also called Shazam), it’s a good bet that a showdown between the two is more of a “when” scenario than an “if.”
