While they didn’t find the old Ireland they were hoping for, the couple said they’ll keep their Irish traditions alive in Newfoundland. Francis and Sylvia were also preparing to perform on stage later.
“I’ll sing ‘Athens Square’ and Sylvia’s ‘Wheel’. We love to keep the Irish feel alive. We also have vegetables at home. The first Irishman to come here, I think fished out of necessity, but grown out of love.
