Our Introduction to Counseling and Listening Skills courses provide a window into the world of counseling and opportunities to explore your personal development. For many, this marks the beginning of their journey to becoming an experienced consultant. Formal training in professional counseling continues with the Certificate in Professional Counseling, which leads to accredited training in counseling psychology. Unlike other training providers, our degree in counseling psychology offers you a comprehensive set of training. We provide you with medical facilities, as well as regular check-ups and pastoral care. For those with busy lives, this extra level of support is expensive.

How To Become A Counsellor In India? Ultimate Guide
It takes about 3-4 years to train to become a consultant. The training can be divided into three stages. The British Association for Counseling and Counseling Therapy (BACP) guides the following ways in which our courses are planned.
Take an introductory course to find out if career counseling is the right choice for you. GCS offers this course as an intensive weekend. Over the course of two days, you will learn about the counseling process, as well as listening training and basic counseling. The GCS Listening and Counseling Course (ITC) has been running for many years and has received strong feedback. To pursue a career as a counselor, you will need to develop your counseling skills and gain a deeper understanding of counseling theory, ethics, and self-awareness. Courses are offered all year round, starting in September (running throughout the academic year) with a 3.5 hour weekly course at our training center in Stroud, Cheltenham or Gloucester. On the other hand, intensive options are available from January with a mix of long and short weekends.
“It gives you the skills, knowledge and ability to work as a counselor or psychotherapist,” says the BACP. Your primary medical training should be at least a degree in counseling or psychotherapy, but most likely a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree.

At GCS we offer a 3-year Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, combining theoretical understanding with clinical practice. All participants are provided with a treatment facility at GCS Clinical Services. Clinical supervision of this work is an integral part of the course and is provided for on-site participants at Stroud. Degree studies are accredited by the BPC (British Psychiatric Council). This course is designed for individuals who wish to gain a professional qualification in counseling and ultimately gain professional recognition as a counselor with post-qualification training and experience.
The qualification courses are designed for qualified counselors and psychotherapists who wish to develop a wide range of skills and competencies essential for transitioning into independent practice or working in an organisation. Beginning in September, the program runs for one calendar year and includes a supervised counseling facility with adult counseling services as well as our tutoring workshop program.
The supervised counseling tools offered in the program allow qualified counselors to earn the post-qualifying client hours required for individual BACP recognition.
