The Evil Dead 2 Full Movie – Evil Dead II (also Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn) is a 1987 horror-comedy film directed by Sam Raimi and the sequel to the 1981 horror film The Evil Dead. The film was written by Raimi and Scott Spiegel, produced by Robert Tapert, and stars Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams.

The film begins with a recap of the events of the first film. Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda take a romantic vacation in a seemingly abandoned cabin in the woods. While in the cabin, Ash plays a tape of an archeology professor (a former resident of the cabin) reading a passage from the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (or Book of the Dead) found during an archeological dig. The recorded episode kills Linda and then weakens the evil forces that have taken over. Ash is then forced to take his girlfriend’s head for his own safety. After he buries Linda, the ghost is seen hunting Ash. The film is then briefly possessed by a demon, but by daybreak, the ghost disappears and Ash returns to normal. But the bridge leading to the cabin is broken, so there is little chance of safety in the ashes. To make matters worse, Linda recovers and attacks Hair with a headbutt. Ash brings Linda’s severed head into his room, where the bloodless body attacks him with chains, but Ash prevails and a mercilessly zombified Linda slices him up and kills him for good. Later, Ash is forced to bite the right hand in the hand.

While Ash deals with this power, the professor’s daughter Annie and his research partner Ed Gately dig through the pages of the Necronomicon and return to find a ruined bridge. They enlist the help of Jack and Bobby Joe to guide them to a cabin with an alternate route. The room perked up and started to laugh as the four looked at Ash who seemed to be slowly going insane due to their encounter with the demon.

When the four first shoot through the door, they mistake him for the killer (mistaken for demonic powers), but they discover a video of Annie’s father, Professor Nobby. After listening, find out the truth. His wife Henrietta was buried in the cabinet room, not how to get rid of it. Ed is in hand and is soon chopped up with an ax along with Ash. Bobby Joe tries to escape, but is attacked by the Devil’s Tree and falls to his death. Annie translates two pages, Jack flips them over and throws them at the camera, holding them at gunpoint to look for Bobby Joe. Ash takes control again and turns the rest of his friends around, leaving Jack unharmed. Annie retreats to the cabin, accidentally stabs Jack (mistaking him for the devil) and throws him against the cellar door, leaving him bloodied by Henrietta. Ash tries to kill Annie, but she reverts back to normal when she sees Linda’s necklace and warns her.

With Annie’s help, Ash replaces the chain and attaches it to where his right arm used to be. Ash eventually finds the missing pages of the Necronomicon and kills Henrietta, who transforms into a long-necked monster. Annie makes a metaphor for sending evil forces back to where they came from. This simile opens up a fleeting portal that draws in not only demonic power, but also nearby trees, the Oldsmobile, and Ash. Ash’s hand stabs Annie with a Kandahari dagger, killing her. Ashe and her Oldsmobile landed in the Middle East when the Crusaders took over in the 1300s. He then encounters a group of heroes who mistake him for a mortal, but are quickly intrigued when the real one emerges. Ash is hailed as a hero for coming to save the real thing by blowing up the harpy-like corpse with his gun, at which point he breaks down and yells, “No.”

Although they recently secured the necessary funding to make the film, the script was written some time during the production of Crimewave. Ramey connected with his old friend Scott Spiegel and starred in Super 8 while working with Campbell and others.

Filming can begin once the script is complete and the production company is confirmed. Production began in Wadesboro, North Carolina, not far from the De Laurentiis offices in Wilmington. De Laurentiis wanted them to film in his spacious studio in Wilmington, but the production crew felt uncomfortable being so close to the producer, so they moved three hours away to Wadesboro. Steven Spielberg previously filmed The Color Purple in Wadesboro, and the large white farmhouse that was used as an exterior location for the film was used as a production location for Evil Dead II. Most of the film takes place at his farmhouse, or J.R. Faison Jr. shot in the woods near the high school where the interior of the cabin is.

The fact that the film’s production wasn’t as chaotic and strange as the original was largely due to the additional filmmaking experience of Raimi, Tapert, and Campbell. However, there are many stories of strange happenings on the set. For example, the rat seen on camera was named “Senor Cojones” by the team. “Cojones” means “testicles” in Spanish.

Still, there were tights, most of them Ted Raimi. Director Sam’s younger brother, Ted, had a brief role as a fake shrimp in the first film, but in Evil Dead II, he plays more of the storyteller’s demonic wife, Henrietta. Remy is forced to wear a full-body latex suit and work in a small hole in the floor in a “cell” or both for a day. Remy was very hot and his clothes were drenched in sweat. Special effects artist Gregory Nicotro is pictured pouring the liquid into several Dixie cups to get it out of the clothes. The scene where Henrietta walks around Annie’s head also shows sweat dripping from the ears of the costume on screen.

The crew hid various in-jokes in the film, such as an Easter egg of Freddy Krueger’s pointy glove, the main antagonist of the A Nightmare on Elm series, hanging in the cabin’s storage and tools. This was at least partially due to the scene in A Nightmare on Elm Street where Heather Langenkamp’s character sees a monster dead on TV in her room. In turn, the scene was a reference to the Broken Eye of Hell poster from the original Evil Dead movie, which itself was a reference to the Broken Jaw in Hell’s Eye poster. At the film’s opening night, the crew held a talent contest where Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell sang the Byrds’ “Eight Mile High” with Nicotro on guitar.
