“Laughable” might not have been what the creators of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” were aiming for, but it was; lol, in all the wrong places.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn
The fourth film in the wildly popular girl-vampire-wolf love triangle is so self-serious it can’t help but laugh. The dialogue is of course ridiculous, and the acting ranges from stiff to morose. But moments that should be exciting are often entertaining because the special effects are still distractingly cheesy.
The latest installment also features another new director, Bill Condon, who combines panache (“Dreamgirls”) with serious artiness (“Gods and Monsters”), and you’ll see a bit of that here — Werewolves Again It looks out of place with its surroundings. How is it possible that such sloppy visuals still exist in an age of technology where Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films blends seamlessly with everyone and everything around him? Adam Sandler is more convincing as his counterpart in “Jack and Jill.”
But we digress because it’s more interesting to discuss other movies. “Breaking Dawn – Part 1,” the first of two films based on the final book in the Stephenie Meyer series (the second part will be released next year), serves as a placeholder for the finale, but itself Also full of development. (Melissa Rosenberg once again wrote the adaptation.) So much happens that you wonder, how could there be another full-length movie after this? Alas, there will be.
The first part begins with Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) getting married in a lavish and romantic outdoor wedding. Bella’s childhood best friend and another person in the equation, the werewolf Jacob Blake (Taylor Lautner, barely recognizable in his shirt) stops by as a gesture of kindness. The guests mingle and dance, and you have to wonder, do they realize that the groom and his entire family are the living dead? Did their eerie porcelain skin and glowing amber eyes betray them? Thoughts wander.

Anyway, finally—finally! – Bella and Edward can have sex, which she’s always wanted, but he’s been reluctant to do, for fear that ruining her sex would, you know, kill her. Yes, the “Twilight Saga” movies (and the books that inspired them) may be filled with passout vampires and strong werewolves, but they were staunchly pro-abstinence — and later, staunchly pro-abortion.
It was supposed to be the happiest day of Bella’s life, but of course she was nervous and generally miserable. Because she’s Bella; Stewart keeps his usual sour look for most of the frame. After the ceremony, Edward took her to a private island off the coast of Brazil to make love to the sweet vampire. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for – and we’re seeing nothing. The next morning, all that remains is the tattered bed frame, fluff floating in the air, and the developing baby inside the new bride. Edward is just that good.
From here, “Breaking Dawn” turns into a debate about what to do with this potentially dangerous hybrid saw. Whether or not it should remain is never really a question, even as it develops at breakneck speed, consuming Bella from within and threatening her life. She was waiting for the baby to be born, while the others sat around discussing it, while Jacob’s fellow werewolf hovered outside the gates of the Karen clan, ready to pounce. And talking—again ominous, but one that comes across as stupid.
The soundtrack, composed by veteran Coen Brothers longtime composer Carter Burwell, is surprisingly kitschy and intrusive, further undermining the film’s tone. Twi-hards movie theaters probably won’t care this weekend, though. It’s what they’ve been longing for, and it’s going to be music to their ears.

The film opens at Black’s house, with Jacob Black bursting out, terrified, and running into the woods. His father Billy tries to stop him, but to no avail. After Jacob leaves, Billy picks up a note on the floor and realizes it’s an invitation to Bella Swan and Edward Cullen’s wedding. Charlie Swan, Renée and Phil Dwyer were also invited.
At the Cullens’ house, Bella, at Alice Cullen’s insistence, tried on her bridal shoes while the rest of the Cullens worked on the set. Back home, Bella packs everything, remembering Jacob’s dream catcher, which still hangs over her bed. Edward shows up and tells her about the time he himself left and fed on people who were almost as horrible as he thought he was, before finally returning to Carlisle and Esme.
Bella convinces him not to think of himself that way. Just then, Emmett Cullen and Jasper Hale arrive and ask Edward to accompany them to his bachelor party, which is a cougar and bear hunt. Bella went to bed and dreamed that the Volturi and all her human friends and family were dead, and that Edward and herself were covered in blood.
The next day, Alice and Rosalie Hale prepare Bella for her wedding, while Renée and Charlie give her an old silver barrette with sapphires that once belonged to Bella’s grandmother.

Bella was getting more and more nervous as she walked down the aisle, until she saw Edward, and all her worries disappeared instantly. The wedding was a success, and Bella and Edward were married.
At the reception, the Denali witch meets Bella, but Irina is upset that the Karen couple invited one of the wolves, Seth Clearwater, after killing her lover Laurent. Jacob comes to dance with Bella, but is annoyed when Bella tells him she and Edward plan to have sex while she is human, which he thinks is dangerous. Before he can make things worse, other wolves come to stop him.
Edward took Bella to Esme Island for honeymoon, which was a gift from Carlisle to Esme. That night, they consummated their marriage. The next morning, Edward was upset that he had inadvertently hurt Bella, despite her disapproval.
They spend the next week exploring the island and enjoying a sexless honeymoon, but Bella keeps trying to talk him out of it. One night she has a dream and wishes it so badly that she pleads with Edward, and he relentes.

Back in La Push, Jacob resents Edward and wishes Bella was dead when they returned, looking forward to the moment he kills him.
Bella realized she was pregnant when she saw her unused tampon and felt something move in her stomach. Edward took her back to Forks to let Carlisle take the baby. Unwilling to give up on the baby, she called Rosalie for help.
Two weeks later, Jacob visited the Karen family and discovered that Bella was extraordinarily pregnant. Despite the warnings of others, Bella is determined to have a baby, and Rosalie is on her side. When the herd heard about it, Sam Uli decided to kill Bella to prevent the child from posing a threat to the local population.
Jacob, however, disagrees and embraces his legitimate power as an alpha to set himself apart from the group. It wasn’t long before he was joined by Seth and Leah Clearwater. Since the Cullens have been warned, Sam decides to surround the area and wait for an opportunity to attack. The Karen family temporarily hid in their house due to hunger.

Bella’s condition worsened within days as her body refused any food. In the end, Jacob’s words inspired Edward to let Bella try to drink human blood to satisfy the child. She felt better immediately.
When Edward first hears what the child thinks, and learns that she has kindness and love for her parents, his hatred turns
