It’s not exactly news that the price of Rolex watches has risen dramatically. In the last two to three years, some popular brands are selling for double, and in some cases even triple, their list price. This makes buying a Rolex more difficult for those who do not have a lot of money to spend on a watch. That being said, there are still some good options out there. With the holidays right around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about gifts. A Rolex watch can be the perfect gift for your loved one. Fortunately, not every Rolex watch costs as much as the Daytona. We have compiled a list of the most affordable Rolex watches from the famous brand.
The Rolex Datejust is the perfect entry-level watch and has been around for decades. You simply can’t go wrong with Datejust. The design of the Rolex Datejust is timeless and goes well with anything. In addition, it is perfect for everyday wear because, like all Rolex watches, the Datejust is robust and easy to service. Unfortunately the price of a new Rolex Datejust watch has risen to a great level, making it harder and harder to get one at a reasonable price. Is there a way to pay more? Absolutely.
First, go for the 36mm model if your wrist allows it. This is a unisex Rolex Datejust, but more importantly, you can get one for less than $5,000. Unfortunately, the larger 41mm size is expensive and you won’t be able to find it for that price. Another way to save money is to buy your Rolex watch without the box and papers. Although I would advise you to buy the watch with the box and papers, it costs a lot of money to buy one without. If you are confident that your Rolex Datejust will be with you or a loved one for a long time, this can be a good way to save money.
This brings us to the question of whether to go vintage or modern. A vintage Rolex Datejust, or really any vintage Rolex, offers a beautiful look. I personally love when a watch has a story to tell. Plus, you can save money by buying vintage. You can buy a stainless steel Rolex Datejust for between $3,500 and $5,000. If you insist on buying a Datejust from the 2000s, on the other hand, prices start near $5,000, making it a much more expensive watch. Although I have to go for the beauty of the vintage Datejust, I can imagine that some of you will want something new, which is also possible.

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual is another entry-level Rolex model. It’s still the perfect watch for anyone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money. However, with the latest Oyster Perpetual model, we have also seen sales values rise well above list price. Price for previous generation Oyster Perpetual, ref. 114300, got up well. If you’re looking for something more affordable, try the 34mm Oyster Perpetual Date, also known as the Rolex Date. Although you’ll be able to get away with the smaller size, it delivers the same Rolex quality as its larger siblings.
Again, the same rule applies when it comes to boxes and books and choosing vintage versus modern. The 34-mm Vintage Oyster Perpetual Date model starts at around $2,500. The latest Oyster Perpetual 34mm Date, ref. 15200, produced until the early 2000s. It comes with the Rolex caliber 3135 and has a sapphire crystal with the Rolex cyclops date logo. This watch can be yours for between $4,000 and $6,000. Like the smaller Rolex Datejust, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 34mm is the perfect watch for both men and women. Speaking of women, Rolex also has an expensive selection designed for women.
A perfect example of a stylish and affordable Rolex watch for women is none other than the Rolex Lady-Datejust. It has the same lens as its bigger brother, but is smaller than the classic 36mm size. While the current Lady-Datejust is 28 mm, the previous models were 26 and 31 mm. The 31mm version is technically considered a “mid-size” Datejust, but you’re unlikely to find it on any man’s wrist, so it’s considered a women’s watch.
These “big” Lady-Datejust models carry the same charm as their big brothers, but have the advantage of some very wooden dials and endless colors, making them the perfect gift for the woman in your life. Pink and salmon dial options look great, but if your loved one loves diamonds, there are options under $6,000 with these precious stones and dials. Prices for Lady-Datejusts from the 2000s start at around $3,000. You have many options to choose from when it comes to dial design, and you also have the option of an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. Although it is a matter of personal preference, my choice would be a beautiful jubilee bracelet.
The 4 Cheapest Rolex Watch Models
Another popular model from the Rolex catalog is the Air-King. As many of you will know, the Air-Kingis is still part of the Rolex collection, but the current model may be discontinued in the near future. That being said, it’s not the watch I want to highlight in this article. Although it’s a bit of a classic Rolex, the current Air-King still packs a lot more than its price tag. No, I would like to focus on the previous generation of Rolex Air-Kings.
The previous Rolex Air-King also features a 34mm Oyster case, making it the perfect choice for both men and women. When the ref. 5500 like other vintage models such as Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date or Rolex Datejust, there are other special options. Particularly interesting are the so-called engine-turned bezels, as well as the modern Rolex Air-Kings with the “Explorer” dial. Air-King ref. The 14000M looks incredible with a navy blue or salmon Explorer dial and unique 3, 6 and 9 numerals. Vintage Air-King prices start at around $3000. Air-King ref. 14000M can be yours for up to $4,000. Models with the Explorer dial cost $4,500 and up.
