Tesla’s earnings reflect what’s happening more broadly in the auto market. The cost of new cars and trucks has risen over the past two years as the COVID-19 pandemic, computer hardware shortages and supply constraints have reduced the number of vehicles that auto companies can produce.
In the past 12 months, the average price of a new car rose by 12%, while the price of used cars rose by 41%, according to the US Consumer Price Index, after the increase. In February, the average price of a new car was $46,085, according to Kelley Blue Book, up from a record high in December. That number has increased by about $10,000 between 2020 and 2021.

Why Tesla Slashed Some Model 3 And Model Y Prices Once Again
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said last month that high interest rates and a tough economy will lead the company to cut costs. A final credit of $5,000 was offered to customers who took delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y before December 31st.
The price cuts announced this week are strong and likely to increase supply, even if profits are likely to suffer.
Tesla is increasingly competitive in all areas. The Y model, in particular, has to deal with many new and powerful groups including Volvo XC40 Recharge, Genesis GV60, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Nissan Ariya.

You can make a short, compact version of this small hatchback, and it will also be available as a three-door. Of course, these are just the first images, but if the Tesla Cybertruck is anything to go by, this new hatchback will look just like it when it hits the streets.
But why did Tesla do this? Well, it’s all about the cost of making electric cars. When the Tesla Roadster first came out in 2008, parts for electric cars were very expensive. This means that Tesla needs to sell its cars for a lot of money in order to make a strong business.

To put that into perspective, the entry-level Fiat 500 (which costs more than $24,000) only has a range of 115 miles. This means that this new Tesla will cost £6,000 less than the Fiat and will have around 30% more range.
Tesla is also considering using the new car’s batteries as an important part of the car’s structure. This makes the car lighter and more powerful because the batteries do some of the work of supporting the foundations of the car – not the other way around.
