British illustrator Jonny Duddle was chosen to design the cover of the new UK children’s edition in 2014. J.K. Rowling was an admirer of Doodle’s work and her recommendation eventually led to the monumental commission.

The jacket features the first Triwizard Task, a tribute to the original UK children’s edition jacket designed by Giles Greenfield. The Hungarian Horntail was particularly difficult to draw and depicting the winged animal took Doodle “as much effort as Harry did in the book”.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second book in the Harry Potter series. Considered the best stand-alone mystery in the entire saga, Chamber of Secrets follows Harry in his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. During Harry’s summer vacation, a house elf named Dobby comes to warn him not to go back to school because apparently terrible things are about to happen. Harry ignores Dobby’s wishes and goes back to school anyway, where the students are soon attacked by a mysterious culprit. Someone walks through the school and harasses the students, turning them into immobile creatures. Harry is determined to solve the mystery before someone is killed.

Before I formally begin this review, I would like to apologize for my long absence from this blog. Between work, Harry Potter book group, reading, and NaNoWriMo, I’ve been very busy.

Now allow me to share a little of my personal history with this book. Chamber of Secrets is the first Harry Potter book I ever bought. Before buying it, I saw Harry Potter as a silly book series and had no interest in reading it. However, my love for books grew when I was in a Toys-R-Us and had a Harry Potter book section. Since they didn’t have the first book in paperback (I didn’t like the hardcover as a kid), my parents bought me the second book in paperback which I have. I don’t have many fond memories of reading the book, although I do remember walking through it in my front yard one summer evening after I bought it, and I remember taking it to school and Shows my friends that I’m on it. Chapter 3, The Cave.

The second book in the Harry Potter series does not disappoint. While the writing is almost finished

On a similar scale to the first book, the reader gains a bit more insight into Harry’s hatred of fame and Harry’s search for identity. In fact, the mystery in the book is, in my opinion, the best of all the books… aside from the overall mystery that is present throughout the series. Harry, Ron and Hermione must search for clues and eventually find them by breaking the rules, being in the right place at the right time and using each other’s natural abilities and talents. Another thing that sets this book apart from its siblings is that it is arguably the most humorous – mostly because of the character, Professor Lockhart. Lockhart’s goofy and brutal mannerisms are absolutely hilarious, adding a very dry wit to the serious tone of the book. This book also contains my all-time favorite quote of the series, as you can see on the right, said by one of my favorite characters, Albus Dumbledore. “It’s our choices, Harry, that show us who we really are, far more than our abilities.” One of the reasons I love these books is that they not only teach me, but also confront me and make me think about my own life and choices. Of course many books do the same thing, but I think it was Harry Potter that made me think about literature in this particular way.

Chamber of Secrets is a great sequel to Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone and actually better than the first, but not the best in the series. As you’ll note when I review the later books, I believe they get better and better as Harry gets older. This book still fits as a children’s book, although I think the laughs will go over children’s heads and the dark stuff will cause nightmares. The mystery is so good that you can’t put the book down and Rowling does a wonderful job of giving the reader enough clues while still surprising us at the end. As expected, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. This article deals with a subject that is part of the real world and thus should not be taken as part of the Harry Potter universe.

Escape came as a freshman at Wydean Comprehensive, Sean Harris quickly becoming a close friend. In 1982 he pulled up outside the family home in his blue Ford Anglia and drove Jo Rowling from the quiet of Tutshill to the concerts and bars of Bristol. He parked under the Severn Bridge and the two envisioned a better future for each other. Harris’s blue Ford Anglia would be immortalized as Ron Weasley’s family car in Rowling’s imagination and the dedication to her second book would describe her as a “getaway driver and foul-weather friend”.

“Ever since Harry Potter came home for the summer, the Dursleys had been so mean and disgusting that all Harry wanted to do was go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But as he was packing his bags,
