Yellow Robot From Star Wars – C-3PO is a protocol droid created by Anakin Skywalker. 3-PO turns out to be a useful ally for both the Republic and the Rebel Alliance. C-3PO’s counterpart is R2-D2. He can also be found throughout the Star Wars saga. Together, the two droids were possessed by several different masters, including Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, Mungo Baobab, and Luke Skywalker.
C-3PO was originally created in 112 BBY on the planet Affa where he served as a protocol droid. In 32 BBY, C-3PO is located on the desert planet Tatooine and falls into the possession of a local slave boy, Anakin Skywalker. Guy spent the next few months trying to recreate C-3PO. Anakin leaves her when Qui-Gon leaves with Jinn. Shmi Skywalker, Anakin’s mother, later upgraded C-3PO with a cape and brought him along when Watto sold it to Owen Lars.

In 22 BBY, Anakin Skywalker returned to Tatooine with Padmé Amidala, his future wife, in search of his mother. When Skywalker died of torture by Tusken Raiders, Skywalker returned to Lars’ home and was buried there. He took C-3PO with him when he left. The Protocol droid later participated in the Battle of Geonosis, along with his counterpart R2-D2. This battle marked the beginning of a galaxy-wide conflict known as the Clone Wars. The war was fought between the Galactic Republic and the Confederation of Independent Systems. During the Clone Wars, C-3PO came into possession of Padme Amidala when Anakin gifted it to his wife. The protocol droid performed many dangerous missions with Amidala and greatly supported the Republic during the Clone Wars. In 19 BBY, Anakin Skywalker transforms into Darth Vader and kills Padmé Amidala. Amidala gave birth to Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa before she died. Luke was handed over to Lars’ family and Leia was adopted by Bail Organa. R2-D2 and C-3PO are delivered to Raymus Antilles, and C-3PO’s memory is erased.

Before the Battle of Yavin, R2-D2 and C-3PO are separated from Tantive IV and their host, Remus Antilles. They roamed the galaxy in search of a new champion. His new champions included Jost Allon, Vic and Nikki Ide, Lelez, Thal Joben, Janan Tosh and Mungo Baobab. However, after their journey, the two droids managed to return to Tantive IV and once again fall under the control of Remus Antilles.
C-3PO is a playable character in every Lego Star Wars game. He has no weapons, but can open doors with a protocol droid panel. When attacked, his legs and arms fall off before he dies. It may explode if the self-destruct function is activated.

Comment: This is a “realistic” version of the R8-B7 sold at Disney parks as the R2 Series Astromech Droid. It’s cheaper than the original animated release on the aftermarket – though not by much – and is effectively an improvement over the out-of-production Astromech that Hasbro introduced in 2012 as part of the aborted The Legacy Collection redux. With the dark blue dome, the yellow plastic has to be spread a bit thicker than usual to show through well – it more or less works. There is a slight slope and some areas where the blue tint appears, but otherwise everything went very well. It’s not the cleanest paint—it shows more haze than others, thanks to the bright color of the paint—but at least you can easily tell who it should be.
The chassis of this assembly was reworked. The lower vents were removed from the R2 body, so you can’t make a four-armed droid anymore. The gray plastic body has blue and yellow markings, most of which are well painted over—lighter colors on black or darker plastic show blemishes more readily, and this is no exception. The back of the body is virtually decked out except for a blue and silver bottom section of the body – there isn’t much else. All the action is in front of it.

Each foot is new – in fact, it’s just a foot. Disney had issues matching the right and left feet during their 2012 ride, so I’m glad they found a clever solution to the problem. Each leg has been redesigned so it’s identical front and rear. It combines the front and rear elements of the first leg while keeping the wheels and dropping the wires. It’s not perfect in itself, but it’s pretty cool. This pair of legs is made of gray plastic with yellow and blue accents. Also note that the arm was reworked so that the “bar” and “point” on each arm were removed and the “shoulders” were smoothed out. It’s worth noting that the leg adds an extra swipe of silver, something that wasn’t present in the original version of the figure that Hasbro showed us in 2012.
The middle gray leg of this (and all other) colors is now unpainted, while the lower leg of the 2012 batch had silver markings.
The figure is identical to Hasbro’s unreleased figure, except that it uses these new molds – Yellow, Red, and Blue are mostly where they were originally. (Some flowers were added to the feet.) So if you’re a fan of “lost figures,” this is close enough to the missing Astromech to fit the bill. This figure should go well with Mace Windu, the armor from The Clone Wars that was released around the same time, and I’m very happy to see more comics in the “realistic” style. I’m sure we’ll never see everyone do it – you can thank cool clones and aliens for that – but at least we
